About Me

ABOUT ME

Books. Beer. Travel.

I am a published writer. I was born in Vermont to parents from Texas. I lived in Proctor until I was 18 when I moved to the small Downeast town of Machias, Maine. I bounced around Maine for a few years then went back to Vermont before heading west and to South America. I have lived in Maine, Vermont, Wyoming, Rhode Island, and Oregon. I have also lived in Lima, Peru for two summers. My Spanish is pretty good, but not really fluent.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel a lot. I don't always have much money to spend. And I always want to experience life as the locals do.

Interests

I really enjoy music and film. If given a chance to go to a movie theater I will take it. I also cannot get enough of the ocean. I enjoy a good mixture of city life and outdoor adventures.

I have currently visited 106 breweries.

Music, Movies, and Books

All types of music interest me, but mostly the indie-rock variety, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Lo-Fi, Thee Oh Sees. Lots of Jazz, Dexter Gordon, Miles Davis, John Coltrane.

I studied film alittle bit in college and I still really enjoy foreign films and classic films.

I read a lot of books. I'm always in the middle of atleast one. I am currently catching up on a lot of classics, Henry Miller, Sylvia Plath, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway. But there's usually a pretty thorough account of my reading habits posted to my Instagram IG: acegringo

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I will never forget, attending a 4th of July party on Shadow Mountain across from the Grand Teton range in Wyoming. While we were sitting by our campsite up near the peak we began to notice an ominous storm cloud heading our way from the North. We all began to worry that our celebration would be rained out, but just before descending upon us the clouds split and divided around Shadow Mountain. That night I watched the fireworks displays of Jackson and Cody, but out shining both of them was the magnificent lighting storm that illuminated Middle Teton just across the field from us.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you all about Film history and Literature. I usually know a lot about the countries that I visit and always become friends with the locals.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I always have atleast one book on me, and I'm usually looking to swap it for a new one.
