CURRENT MISSION
Exploring the U.S. and its culture
ABOUT ME
I am an Austrian student in his mid-twenties and consider myself funny, polite, attentive and good to be with. I love to get to know people from different countries and cultures and share some experience and what we know about the world. I am a bit of a language geek, so I am happy about everyone who is willing to teach me a word or two in their native language. I have spent the last couple years at the University of Vienna, studying Latin, Ancient Greek and English, which keeps me pretty occupied (i am usually to be found with me nose buried deeeeep into old dusty books).
After some trips around Europe (Scotland, Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands,...) I am now looking forward to finally discovering North-Eastern America and meeting new friends along the way.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in the value of constant change and improvement. never grow tired of picking up new interests and stay curious.
i also think that there is a lot to be gained if we take the effort to get to know and really listen to people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Unfortunately, I cannot host any of you guys in my dorm room in Vienna, but during holidays, I can always offer my couch home in Upper-Austria for a couple of days and show you around. PLUS, of course, I can always be your tour guide around Vienna and show you some cool spots.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am just getting started, so I'm a CS newbie. However, i am looking forward to travelling places and hopefully staying in touch with my future hosts. in the future, i might also be able to host people in Vienna.
Interests
Music (guitar, singing), meaningful conversations, kayaking (got to know the sport in Scotland and would love to pick it up again), books (the very old ones, the very new ones, and everything in between), movies, beer and whiskey from all around the world

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: pretty much everything that features some good guitar-playing. that's why the list of my favourite artists begins with Iron Maiden and ends with Bob Dylan. i also enjoy going to local shows and spotting young talent.
Movies: the likes of 'Inception', 'Shutter Island', 'Taxi Driver', 'Good Fellas', 'The Big Lebowski', 'City of God', 'Pulp Fiction'.. i am pretty much a Scorsese, Tarantino and Coen-brothers guy. I also have a big thing for rock-music documentaries :)
Books: Greek and Latin Epic. Greek Tragedy. Paul Auster, Nick Hornby, Jack Kerouac, Ron Butlin, Janice Galloway
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending a weekend in the Scottish Highlands with the Aberdeen University Canoe Club and partying hard during the nights and going padddling early in the mornings. The ceremony of honoring new and old members of the club also took place that weekend, involving yard glasses filled with a variety of alcohols and things that you wouldn't usually include in drinks and (fortunately) a sufficient number of buckets.
