About Me

I've been very keen to change the world since a young age. Now, age 47, I have burnt out many times and so I think I am a little more tempered than in my early 20s :-)

Still, I feel optimistic about life and people and my projects keep going... they just transform into different shapes but essentially I am a community builder.

I find it hard to separate my work and my interests as for me they are all mixed up together. I am quite a lively and sociable person but I also do like to meditate and enjoy time by myself. I like people to feel free around me and I welcome conversations on many topics.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love finding out about different cultures. Its been a while since I travelled and I miss it. I also like to meet new people regularly. I am lucky to live in a very cosmopolitan city and really appreciate this aspect of it.

I prefer to travel through connections. I don't mind some solo travel as I love the synchronicities that can happen when you do travel alone. But I really like the notion of person to person recommendations and connections and the sense that we are all connected through a web.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a lot of the electronica music from the 70s (trippy stuff) and the 80s (more pop and synth wave stuff) - both ambient, trance and progressive house, minimal and dubstep. I also love folk music from different countries. Another big love is the blues, New Orleans jazz, plenty of pop music, some classical and other genres. I'm experiencing a bit of a rebirth, music-wise as I have started to write my own songs for my little ukulele.

I enjoy reading but don't do as much as I like to. I loved The Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. I love the Beat poets. As to cinema, I loved the recent Sense8 series on netflix. I'm a big fan of the Wachowski sisters.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped out of a plane! Danced in the carnival in south america.

Also have been very active in my local community in some exciting projects that I gave my heart and soul to.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what I can teach! Perhaps I will update this section after I get some ideas :-)
