Overview
About Me
I'm a professional seeker of knowledge with an interest in nearly everything. I moved to Hawai'i when I was 18 where I studied indigenous literature and Japanese. While I was still at university, I got an internship as a wedding cake decorator that was the start of my career in pastry arts. I competed in multiple slam poetry competitions while finishing up my degree, and then moved to California with my fiancé, where I got trained as a professional barista and opened a vegan pop-up bakery and cafe. When I'm not shaping croissants or pulling espresso shots, I'm reading books, writing, listening to language podcasts, or exploring the outdoors with my fiancé.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I strongly believe that travel should be accessible to everyone--not just the super-rich. I grew up being told that my family couldn't afford to travel because it was too expensive, and now that I'm older I'm finding that it doesn't have to be that costly. I think Couchsurfing offers a great alternative for people who are interested unconventional travel and truly want to understand a foreign culture on every level.
I'm not currently accepting guests because my fiancé and I are in the middle of a move across the country and our tiny studio is a mess of boxes. When we get settled in Seattle, we plan to open our home to surfers.
