About Me
Hi! I’m new on Couch Surfing and already in awe of how it creates the possibility of bringing some of the best parts of travelling into your own home! I have occasionally been restless in covid-times, craving the input of people you don’t get to meet everyday, learning new perspectives, and here you all are, together on this amazing platform :). I’m excited to meet you all and I can’t wait to host (although that last bit will have to wait for a while, because I’ll soon be leaving for another adventure - and I also live with a roommate who should have a say in this as well :)).
MY TRAVELLING PERSONALITY
Due to a lack of adventurous friends, I am mostly a solo traveller :). I’m not much of a planner, but my backpack is practically always ready to go for a long distance hike. Hiking in the mountains for several weeks or months on a regular basis has made me not only capable of spending a whole lot of time by myself, but I really grew to need it in a way, at least from time to time. There is an amazing kind of solitude that you can only experience in nature, and it’s safe to say I got addicted to it :). Nevertheless I have a very open personality, I am genuinely interested in people and I enjoy the inspiring encounters that come with solo travelling very much as well :).
AT HOME
When I’m not travelling I work as a nurse - you can take that quite literally, since I’ve been mostly working on interim base between travels these past few years. I like a slow life. And as much as I like to travel, I do love coming home to my dearest friends and (in particular the mini-members of) my family - very happy being a favourite aunt :).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Like most people I joined to surf (although I’m very enthousiastic about maybe hosting in the future), and also like a lot of people I guess, I did so to meet interesting people who can give me some inside tips of what to see and do in the area I’m visiting.
But more than that, I hope to find some much craved comfort while leading a nomad life. Not in terms of hot showers (while those are definitely enjoyable :)) and kingsize beds - I will very happily sleep on your living room floor - but by feeling a little bit at home in a foreign place through a warm welcome and an inviting couch :).
Interests
I’m both an in- and outdoor kind of person, I love to hike, am an enthousiastic birdwatcher and attempt to learn the name of every wild flower I see. But I also have a close relationship with my couch and I like to read :). Except from a bachelor in nursing, I also have a diploma as a ski teacher and a pastry chef!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Getting slightly spooked running into a big group of voltures, while I was hiking and wild camping for two months on my own in the French Pyrenees :). Also running from a rhino in a forest in Nepal, or having to walk an hour in the wrong direction avoiding a bear in the Tatra mountains in Slovakia :p anything wild animal related makes for an unforgettable experience!
