ABOUT ME

I'll give this a shot. I'm an impulsive, energetic, talkative, open-minded, optimistic, and (at times) nerdy Canadian who feels a little weird talking about himself this way on the internet. I'm a performer at heart who usually travels with a guitar in tow, and my impulse to romanticize travel inspires both my writing and teaching. I caught 'the bug' when teaching ESL in South Korea, but have been back in Canada for the last two years working at University of Calgary as a graduate student, dreaming of getting back on the road to do what I love.

PHILOSOPHY

I've always believed that you get out of life exactly what you put in, and that good things happen to people who tackle life with passion, honesty, and good-humour. That, and take your shoes off inside people's homes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a relative newcomer to the community, having only a few hosting and surfing experiences under my belt from my time living in New Zealand. I have been totally floored by the kindness and openness of everyone I've met so far through CS, and love the opportunity to experience what it's like to live somewhere rather than just travel through - I'm looking forward to both surfing and hosting in the coming year!

Interests

I like getting lost, both in conversation and geographically. When travelling, I'll jump at any opportunity to hike (cities included), play music, broaden my horizons as a sports fan, and take pictures and videos of the craziest things I can find.

If you want to know how someone feels about you, ignore everything they say and pay attention only to what they do. Oh, and if you want kids to like you, speak to them like adults while you act like a complete child.
