About Me

CURRENT MISSION

figure out where I'm going!

ABOUT ME

I'm your run-of-the-mill bag of contradictions:
I'm introverted but I love people (in small groups).
I studied English but currently work in IT.
I grew up in the country and love living in the city.
I make weird faces but am hard to read.

I like debating semantics.
I collect postcards.

PHILOSOPHY

I love Jesus, and I love people. I want to have conversations with people who I agree with and who I disagree with because I think you can learn something from everyone's perspective.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couch surfed a bit when I was in Europe in 2008, and in the last year have had the opportunity to host a couple people. I'm still learning how to be a great host, but I absolutely LOVE meeting new people.

If you're looking for a host who likes to party, maybe try someone else. I'm up for a night out at a few bars and maybe even dancing, but overall I'm more low-key than that. I would love to take you to Seattle's amazing restaurants, show you around some of the touristy areas or gorgeous parks, bring you to the game night my friends are hosting, or have a quiet evening hanging out at my house after you've been out exploring all day.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had a couple of couch surfing experiences, not all through the website. All were fantastic though! It was a huge blessing when travelling in a foreign country by myself to have complete strangers welcome me into their home and be willing to share their lives with me for a few days!

Interests

I've taken an interest in rock climbing, and most outdoor adventures appeal to me...I haven't gotten around to anything too extreme yet, but give me some hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, snowshoeing, biking, etc and I'll be happy.

Writing has always been a passion, but I never spend enough time on it. Nanowrimo winner in 2009 and 2011, but all I came away with were two terrible drafts that haven't been reworked into readable stories yet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing baby lions in the middle of the Masai Mara while on safari in Kenya.

Digging rice fields for a Lahu village in Thailand.

Teach, Learn, Share

Being an English major does have its perks...I'm kind of a grammar nerd, not gonna lie. I can cook fairly well (or at least usually not horribly). I can take you rock climbing at the gym I frequent.
