ABOUT ME

I am a city girl, born and raised, yet I am drawn to learning about agriculture and the rural lifestyle. I have lived and worked on a small organic farm where I learned how to grow vegetables, drive oxen, build and raise a timberframe building, care for animals, people, and the land. It was a beautiful experience that I will never forget.
One summer I traveled through Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and New York, interviewing small dairy farmers about their lifestyles. By the end of the summer I had talked with over 60 people! Organic farmers, rotational grazers, Amish and Mennonite, and all the other wonderful people in the communities that support the farmers. It was amazing to meet so many unique people.
In 2009 I traveled to India for a study abroad program in which I learned about international development and sustainable agriculture. I lived with a host family for 2 months in Jaipur and tried to speak Hindi everyday. I spent a month working and living in an NGO community in rural Rajasthan.
Currently I am working as an environmental scientist for a consulting company. I do mostly sampling and remediation of water, soil, and air at Superfund sites.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couchsurfing experience, but who knows what future adventures I will go on when I might need it? I travel a lot for work in Minnesota, and might like to try surfing as an alternative to hotels.

Interests

I love to dance and feel bare earth beneath my feet.
I could sit near any body of water and watch the waves for hours. I am trying to teach myself how to play the penny whistle. I enjoy planting things and watching them grow.
