Overview
About Me
Hey! I’m Songzi, or you can just call me Song. I’m a backpacker and digital nomad, been on the road for about three years. After spending the last few years exploring over 30 cities across China and a long journey through Asia and Europe, I’m currently based back in China for work.
I’m not really interested in rushing through places or collecting landmarks. I prefer staying longer in each country, slowing down, and paying attention to everyday life rather than tourist sights. What matters to me most is the connection between people, about real conversations, shared moments, and the small details of daily living.
I don't believe the COUNTRY. Grew up in a remote village in China, so my curiosity about the world is way bigger than I imagined. Fun part is when I chat with people in different countries, I sometimes find stuff that reminds me of home, those moments are special, and I wanna have more of them.
I’m also kinda iffy about RELATIONSHIP, I feel the only thing we can really hold on to is the now: put phones down, actually look at each other, listen... That’s what matters. Not super social 24/7 tho! Most important is just feeling the moment, no judging, even no pics, just vibes.✌️
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a host: I’ve received a lot of kindness while traveling, and now I like giving it back.
As a surfer: Not here just for a free bed, I care more about connecting with locals and sharing real moments, not just traveling as a tourist. Sleep anywhere is fine, like sofa or floor, whatever. I travel a lot, eat simply, and love real talks about life and culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
Big fan of electronic music, mostly techno and psytrance :))))))) but also love local folk sounds. Always try to find local music wherever I go and see how people dance.
Movie loverrrrr. Agnès Varda is a huge inspo. Recently watched Robot Dreams and Titane. Also love documentaries.
Poetry is a big deal for me. Been writing Chinese poems for years, sometimes society, sometimes feelings. Publishing back home is tricky, so I’ve done small exhibitions and graffiti projects with friends. Lately I’ve been reading Clarice Lispector and Simone Weil.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Backpacking for the past 3 years!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach simple Chinese cooking, keeping things tidy, or even cut and dye hair (haven’t been to a salon in years). Worked in a whisky bar too, so I can mix a few cocktails.
I’m also a big cat and dog person. I spent half a year self-funding a rescue project for strays, so I’m quite experienced with pet care, including the medical side, like giving injections to cats.
I can share what I’ve learned about self-expression, in front of a camera or off it. I was the main subject in a documentary project for three years, and it taught me a lot about being honest.
Learning English more naturally, trying to live sustainably, for now that means carrying my own bag and picking up trash sometimes, but hoping to do more.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Can help with cleaning, organizing, or cooking Chinese food. If we have the right ingredients, can whip up a cocktail too.
Love chill, honest convos. Observant, usually notice moods easily. After around three years traveling over forty cities, I adapt fast and find small joys everywhere.
I love spotting shared history between countries, especially stories about women and LGBTQ+ people. If you’re curious, I can also show how I use AI tools for remote work and creative stuff.
