ABOUT ME

My family has this old pillow case, now framed, with horoscope readings we enjoyed sharing with guests. My reading, Sagittarius, says, "Friendly and optimistic; a philosophic thinker hungry for knowledge; an explorer, adventurer, who loves wide open spaces, highly developed social consciousness and business ability."

It's pretty close, all but the "business ability" part.

I take pride in being able to find something I can appreciate about most environments I'm in. To me compassion is the highest human attribute. Dancing is up there too. My greatest inspiration in life is to be actively engaged in conscious evolution. I'm quite grounded and balanced but I do love to laugh and have fun. I enjoy sharing deep conversations one on one, and at times I enjoy letting go and rockin' a party!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Lot's O' travel and trying as much as possible to do the cs thing along the way. Was my initial and primary source for community while doing the expat thing in Eastern Europe.

*I haven't been on here in a while mostly because my last few trips were to locations where CS is less used. And I tend to travel with a lot of flexibility and spontaneity making it hard to organize hosts. (There does also appear to be lot more hosts, male hosts, then when I started on CS looking for cute female guests as well...not cool!) So these days I'm using this resource, mostly, as a way to meet locals and make new friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The cs community has been essential to my travel experience, at least in the first few years. The Budapest group was one of my primary sources for fun and community while there and though with my spontaneous type of travel I haven't arranged as many hosts as I would have liked the people I have met on CS and the experiences I have had through them have been, absolutely, the most rewarding!

Books: I can't read! (kidding, but I don't read much) Illusions, The Turning Point, The world is sound, The 5th Sacred Thing, Coelho, Kundera, J.Krishnamurti, I was on an Anne Rice and Carlos Canteneda kick for a while and I've been working with Eckhart Tolle's books a lot lately (and some more spiritual mumbojumbo:)

Music: Yes! lately mostly things in the electronic realms, I eat up synth sounds and big beats and wish the 80's went on forever. But I'll settle into most sounds when the vibe calls for it...like country through Montana hills, jazz in New Orleans, soca in the Caribbean, Classic Rock Videoke in the Philiipines etc. I can listen to most blues and bosa nova anytime even though I couldn't name that many artists.
I make computer music myself and find my inspiration everywhere but lately I'm listening to more beautiful funky minimal deep house.Then there's the radio head, depeche mode, sigur ros, U2, ubiquity.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I've been working on something I call the "Sonic Nomad Project" from the various audio samples I took from my travels. I finished one album and since then have created a few side project EP's that I've been holding on to for the right kind of release. I'm so inspired by all the wonderfully exotic sounds emerging from every unique cultural and environmental location and experience that a kind of sonic travel log emerges from my music (mostly with a rhythmic foundation...I love beats!). I then distribute the music and other relative media to help fund my travels and to raise awareness and funds for certain humanitarian causes I encountered along the way.

I've been told I'm an incredible listener. I think this is a great honor and have come to realize it's legitimately one of the greatest gifts someone can give. People often tell me, "Wow, I can't believe I've just told you all that I'm I've just met you." I enjoy getting to the root of people and helping them with whatever kindness I can offer. So if when we meet there's anything you wanted to get off your chest for someone to listen to compassionately and without judgement. I'm your man :)
