About Me

Hello everyone!

My name is Sonya and I'm 25 years old. For this past two years I've been working in public education doing student mentoring and college/career exploration and access! I love working with youth and being an educator. Between working within education I've had the chance to travel around and lived in Portugal for a few months last year/this year.
When I'm not working or traveling, I love to read books, thrift, cook and eat new foods, and go out with friends!

Here's a link to my instragram and facebook! Please don’t reach out to me unless you’ve already messaged me on CF or we’ve talked prior on CF. I have my links as a form to verify who I am, not to hit me up just cause.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music! I used to be a radio DJ for 3 and half years at my local college's radio station, KUGS 89.3 FM. For the first year I played a mix of new and old music spanning all different genres. The last few years at KUGS I did my own speciality show mostly focusing on Brazilian and or Portuguese music. My show was called "Brought to you by Brasil" and my goal was to really bridge the gap between the American understanding of Brazilian culture and history through music.

Some of my favorite bands and artists include: Karol Conka, Bright Eyes, Soko, Rodrigo Amarante, Tiger's Jaw, The Smiths, This Will Destroy You, and MANY more!

I also love to read as much as I can. Books are great since they are portals to other worlds. Some of my favorite books include: The Opposite of Loneliness, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Bad Feminist, Exile and Pride, All About Love, and many more!
I'm currently reading Ecotopia by Ernest Callenbach and Elevation by Stephen King

Movies are also amazing since we can learn so much about different cultures through film. I like to mostly watch dramas, indies, and foreign films! I do love my occasional rom-com here and there though
