About Me

CURRENT MISSION

more time for myself, to explore life, write books, travel around the world, see beauty, get wise ...

ABOUT ME

Married man since 2018.
I can work like a dog if something or someone fascinates me. I'm good when it's VERY BAD.
I'm big enough, short enough, loud enough, strange, experienced in many things, seen a lot, visited some places, talked to many people. Friends and visitors love me for my cooking and telling tales. I'm also a member of the hospitality club. I collect rocks. And I MEAN collecting! Not just buying and putting pieces on my shelves. I go out there and dig and hammer away! You'd also like my film collection. No bullshit there. Nothing to insult your brain. Books also. And still some very fine comic books. Of course, music too. I like the best from everything (Oscar-Wilde-like). But I can't afford most of it. Ask for more ...

PHILOSOPHY

Relax.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It's a little bit difficult to stay at OUR apartment nowadays, since I'm married. Space problem. But when you're around you can always drop by and in case of an emergency or you're just in need of a bowl of soup or a couch for one or two nights just ask. I might be able to get you a place for a tent in the garden. Our apartment is in a very interestig place - an old mining company (in the "Unesco World Heritage Middle-Rhine" and part of the "Road of Industrial Culture"), built like a baroque castle, towering above a village with some nice (swimming!) ponds, surrounded by woods, small streams, little mountains, middle-aged castles ...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Too many to count ...
Very nice people coming to my place. Me visiting other people, friendships have formed ...
Let's see: some dozen times being visited and visiting others as many times ...

Interests

Minerals, fossils, movies, books, politics, fine arts, comic books, some theater, music (the best of everything), should do more sports (I swim rather well).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in the comic book and illustration business (as journalist, writer, translator, publisher of art prints, distributor, agent). I have had personal contact/friendship/experiences with many famous artists - f.e. H.R.Giger (Alien), Carl Barks (Donald Duck), Will Eisner (The Spirit), Wendy and Richard Pini (Elfquest), Günter Wallraff (Ganz Unten), Moebius, Burne Hogarth (Tarzan) and many more ...
In the last years I went rock hunting and gold digging (dredging) in Senegal and found best quality pieces of the very rare mineral Senegalite, which was sold to many famous European museums and collectors.
But the most amazing thing I ever did was a James-Bond-like car-stunt in the mountains between Spain and France (Pyrenees). Indescribable!

Teach, Learn, Share

You can learn how to find and prepare fossils and minerals from me. A lot about mushroom-collecting (seasonal), generally a lot about nature. Perhaps some things about cooking (cheap but good and healthy!). Some time in the future I want to teach "Creative Writing".

What I Can Share with Hosts

Art, Nature, visiting ancient castles and Roman excavation sites, a Celtic village and more.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Gambia, Germany, Gibraltar, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, San Marino, Senegal, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, United Kingdom, United States, Western Sahara
