About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To eat as many new Italian cheeses as possible.

ABOUT ME
I like 'Slow Travel': traveling around a country on bicycle so I can watch the landscape and people pass me by in no hurry. I like to see and excperience the 'everyday' acpects of foreign countries, not always the main tourist destinations.

I follow my tastebuds! Food is very important to me, so I enjoy travelling where I can experience new food and food culture. Complemented by some nice wine or beer too :) I love to cook and share meals with people.

I value and care about sustainability, equality, and community. I'm not afraid to disobey the law to stay true to these values if my moral compass points me in a direction different to the way societal power-holders want us to behave.
To stay true to those values and to be continuously inspired by the resistors and revolutionaries amongst us, I'm involved with social and ecological activism when at home.

I studied environmental science/food sustainability in Canberra, have spent some time working and wwoofing on organic farms in Italy and Australia (NSW and Victoria).

Food is probably the second most important things in my life. Growing, preparing, sharing, considering and discussing it are all passions of mine.
I can sit in the sunshine with a newspaper and drink and be the happiest person alive.
Music makes me happy :) Dancing and singing out of tune, having a live band or a solo musician share their music with me is something very special.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel is not the same when you merely pass through a country without meeting the people who live there. I've loved all of my couch surfing experiences through Europe, the US and the UK, and my time hosting in Canberra. I've surfed with, and hosted some really amazing people from many different backgrounds and from whom I've always learnt something.

I've had fantastic, positive, warm, incredibly generous, informative couch surfing experiences on all of my travels! CS-ing allows you to see another side of a place that you wouldn't normally experience. Nothing but fun and enriching times and people. And you learn things too!

Interests

Nature. Food. Sustainable agriculture. Travelling. Learning, exploring, homebrewing, music, festivals with sunshine, baking bread, happy people, different people, the colour green, carrots, sultanas, leaves in different seasons, making things with my hands, reading maps, using maps, candles on tables, rock climbing, climbing up trees, bushwalking, baked apples with cinnamon, laughing, percussion based music, photography.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music, in no particular order with a folk, punk-folk, reggae, dub, ska, indie, rock, blues, roots or gypsy tinge. I like dancing to a whole bunch of electronic music that I don't know how to classify.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learning to make cheese from an award winning Italian cheesemaker in Piemonte. Milking the sheep and goats by hand, taking them out to pasture twice a day, and making cheese with their milk.

Teach, Learn, Share

'Different' does not equal 'bad'. We must celebrate diversity.

Don't waste your life on poor quality, cheap food that is bad for your health and wellbeing and treats the earth like shit.

Scaring yourself lets you know you are alive.

I've cut mine off, but I can give dreadlock advice/ help sessions if your dreads are in need of some TLC.
I'm pretty good at making pancakes too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook quite well (an Italian woman told me this!!), I am a good listener, and I do not judge people. Everyone is different, and I accept that.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Estonia, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, United Kingdom
