ABOUT ME
Hi this is Sophia from China!
When I arrived in N.I for study, I came across Phil(My first host) and started to get in touch with CouchSurfing.
I found it a great way to travel since travelling is not only about sightseeing but also about knowing how people live, talk... Travelling is more about people! So I look forward to meeting you and have a good time with you. =D
PHILOSOPHY
Work hard, play hard.
Be neat outside, and be rich inside.
Live at the moment.
Love people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I was introduced to be a CSer by one of my friend Li Yuqing, who found this fantastic way to travel on the Internet.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
2013.09 Surfed in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland by Phil for 5 nights
2014.04 Surfed in London by Steph and her boyfriend Daniel for 2 nights
2014.05 Surfed in London by Sarah and her family for 3 nights
Interests
Sports - I love basketball and also good at badminton. However, I am bad at running and now runs every day trying to be fitter and run longer at the basketball court!
Music - I enjoy a range of music except for metal-that's too noisy for me. I love classic most though I don't have much knowledge of the composers. I just love listening to them. I also enjoy Jazz and folk, together with classic they really relax me and boost my imaginations. Also I can compose and play the piano - just for fun, far from experts.
Reading - Mainly Chinese history, Chinese and world novels.
Cooking - I am good at cooking Chinese foods. I will be very glad to introduce different Chinese styles of cooking to you while letting you taste them at the mean time - because I will cook for you too =)
Volunteering - I have been a volunteer for Autism for two years, getting in touch and helping autistic families in China. I am still willing to devoting to autistic volunteering now, but it seems hard in the U.K. because here it does not need many short-term or part time volunteers. I am also willing to evolve in other kinds of volunteering. I have also been to India to teach young children classes for one month; have cared for old people from time to time in Shenzhen, China.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't really watch movies, but I do have my some favourite - 3 idiots and Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, both trying to show a positive attitude of life. Life may be hard, but we should never give up and always smile isn't it?
For classic music I enjoy the pieces written by Mozart, J.S.Bach, Chopin and Depussy the most. I love pieces of Herbert von Karajan. For jazz I can't remember most of them, but Nora Jones is not my favourite and I have recently been enjoying Madeleine Peyroux's Bare Bones. I love Irish Folks too, I love nearly every of them.
For books I mainly read Chinese history and novels. But one of my favourite books is Cien años de soledad.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Publicized autism in a train from Dalian, China to Beijing China to 100 strangers and get 29 wishes written on paper for autistic families.
Organised a flash mob of 20 people publicizing autism in front of 500 people.
Made a small animation publicising environmental protection.
Established the first long-term autistic volunteering project in Dalian, China.
Teach, Learn, Share
Cooking is a good way to communicate - It will be glad to have the surfers to make a big meal for the host, so that every one can be participate in preparing and enjoying the meal, showing the surfers' culture and it is also a good way to thank the kindness of the host!
I want to meet more people from more places, have conversation with them to know their unique culture and wonderful life experience.
