About Me
Helloo :)
My name is Sophie and I am new to couchsurfing.
I'm a french Canadian (Quebec) and am very curious about other cultures.
I completed one year in University (2016-2017) to become a teacher in elementary school, more specifically for children with special needs. However, I've decided to take a break to travel more and try to work with kids abroad. I am currently looking forward to get involved in schools in South America during the winter :)
This past summer (2017), I've been travelling two months in Europe and I really had the time of my life! It was my first time travelling solo and I met so many awesome people. I’ve been to electronic music festivals over there; it was just too awesome. I came back in September, and at the moment, I am working in order to leave as soon as possible ;P I am planning on leaving in February, if everything works out. My job? Waitress in two restaurants. I have always been working in the social area, or with children (snowboarding teacher, daycamp monitor); if that can help you picture what type of person I am!
Yes yes: I am very sociable and optimistic! I am very respectful of animals, people and material, so you must know I would be a great guest at your home :) In the same idea, I am expecting the same minding for the people that sleep on my couch; common sense hehe. By the way, I have two lovable cats, very affectionate; bewareee if allergies; sorry guys!
I also like walking when it’s nice outside, and biking, especially when I am visiting a city! That way I get to see more in less time. Oh, and I love the sun, the heat, summer!! The colors in Quebec can be really nice during autumn though :) And the snow as well, when it just fell down, is so magical with its sparkles. I love snowboarding too, even though I unfortunately didn’t go that often the last years (I used to go every weekend when I was younger).
Another aspect of my personality is that I enjoy the night life and chilling with my friends. Montreal has so many things to offer: bars, concerts, activities. During the autumn/winter time, I enjoy more time home in cozyness haha but stilllll I would most probably go out during the weekend.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A lot of my friends told me about couchsurfing. I've actually decided to subscribe just before my trip to Europe last summer, in order to meet new people and help me discover the cities I was visiting, to have propositions of things to do, discover secret places, etc:) I think Couchsurfing is a way to ``live as a local``, even just to see what the apartments look like, depending on the cities!
However, since I was pretty much living in the moment and not planning too much in advance my next destination, it was hard for me to find a host in the first places I visited, and then I kind of stopped sending requests for hosts. At some points during my travel, I actually ended up naturally meeting people that became friends and invited me over to sleep so it was just great :)
Now that I am back, I want to help out other travelers :) To show them around a little, talk to them about life in montreal, or share some memories about other travels! And I would love to hear about their culture as well, their memories from travels, recommendations about other countries, etc. Aslo, hostels every night can be expensive, so it would be my pleasure to help out some people save on their budget, with no stresss.

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste in music is so variouuuus i don't even know where to start. I must admit reggae is one of my favorite music, or any style combined with reggae, by example reggae-dub. There's just so many different styles of electronic music that I like that it would be hard to enumerate them all, but here's some of them: prog, techno (bassline/groovy), electro, drum n bass, fidget, psytrance, and so it goes on! I love a lot of styles (electronic or not); it really depends on my mood. I also enjoy instrumental music, rock, rap, hip hop, even classical, jazz, blues sometimes. One of the only styles I don't like is metal.
I'm always looking forward to discover new artists and I really should write them down because I often rely on my friends the djs and then, when I'm home, I don't remember the names. Yep, that's me. haha
I must admit that the only time I read a BOOK is actually when I travel. I do not really take the time to read when I'm home, I don't really know why. Probably because I'm too distracted by other stuff and I mostly like to read outside like at the beach or in the park. My kind of books would be detective novels or books that make you ``grow`` (self-help books).
For the movies, there are too many as well and it also depends on my mood but I would say I like funny movies or action movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My travels hehe but there would be so much to say; I will leave it for if we meet! :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I honestly mostly want to offer my hosts a comfortable place to say ( ok my sofa bed is not the newest so you probably have been sleeping on something more comfy but stillll you would have soft blankets aha and you will more importantly feel like home, that's what I'm hoping! ). I live downtown Montreal so it's also a great place to be. And it would be my pleasure to show you around the city if I am not working!! Or at least tell you some cool places to see :) Let you know if there's specific cultural activities going on in Montreal during your stay, share my culture, learn about yours, and share memoriiies from all accross the world; like I wrote earlier.
