About Me
All about me? Umm sheesh, how does one answer this question?? I think you'll probably just have to meet me...I'm lovely so my friends tell me!
I laugh often, I'm super friendly and curious but pretty laid back as most New Zealanders are. I think a lot about a lot of things and talk about them sometimes too. I'm a bit of a try hard in all my pursuits and in life in general I guess. I'm an eternal optimist who tries hard not to ignore reality. My pet peeve is when life gets people down to where they just go through the motions, with this in mind I often find myself trying to draw the dreams people have out of them. Don't know if I've had much success but I'll keep trying.
As of July, 2015 I'll have a Masters of Teaching but I feel more at home in the category of a designer, its just that learning opportunities are what I'm currently working on designing haha!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Trying to be a worthwhile guest as I surf around the world, sometimes solo sometimes with friends. Looking forward to hosting as soon as I settle back in New Zealand in September 2015, especially and hopefully some of the gems my friends and I have stayed with over the years!!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In Auckland showing foreigners around was the funnest thing!! And whilst travelling, being able to stay with some incredible people who have opened their homes and lives to us, it is actually just such a gift, having been on and off the road for a few years now, I have meet up with some of my couch surfing friends in more countries than I have seen my family and close friends! GO CS!
Interests
Ahhh, EVERYTHING, people may accuse me of being a generalist but truly I am just an intensely curious soul who is fascinated by everything from ants to anthropology... but in no order what so ever these are the simple pleasures of my life...
Vast spaces, patterns, land, swimming in rivers and lakes, water, rain, snow, sand, wood, foreign languages, history, far off lands and cultures, going fast, running by myself, rocks (boulders actually), my Grandma, Christmas, birthdays, board games and cards but particularly scrabble, wrapping presents, traveling, the marginalised and homeless, parties, catch ups, taking off and landing in planes, eating out in cheap cute places or really nice places, all team sports except cricket, cooking, markets, my enormous extended family, baking, feasting, dusk, photography, film making, film watching, kayaking, climbing mountains, open fires, writing poems that only my grandchildren will see, making anything and everything, great design, being meticulous but only when it counts, stories, language, singing to myself, hammer hardware store, driving on the open roads, $2 shops, porridge, avocado, vogels bread, yoghurt, maple syrup, foreigners, tomatoes, citrus and berry fruits, antique shops, redesigning my bedroom, textures and fabrics, hugs and kisses, pretending I can play the piano, great architecture, sailing, adventures, spontaneous moments of brilliance, tennis, thinking of design ideas and inventions, paddocks, grass, orchards, being up high, serendipity, vineyards, dreaming of the future, indigenous tatoos, making lists, all nighter's with friends, enjoying the present, reminiscing about the past, standing up for people, words, personable babies and toddlers, kids in general, tea, warm milk, odd people, dancing, D&Mâs, listening to quality music especially when it's live, meals with family or friends
...If you just actually read that whole list, you just became another one of my simple pleasures!

Music, Movies, and Books
hmmm too many to mention, I pretty much love all topics/genres except horror films and sci-fi are not really my cup of tea, but cool if they're yours, perhaps you could explain the appeal to me.
Music wise I like it all, its the language of the soul so whether that be pop, alternative, classical, reggae or etc., there's a place for it all in my life at some point, though I do have a soft spot for just a singer and his/her guitar singing their little hearts out...transcendent moments!
I guess I'm one of those who genuinely LOVES music but never has enough time to get caught up with song titles and band names.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Mt Everest Base Camp trek was spectacular and beware I am fast forming a habit of convincing others to do it too!
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmm what can I teach you... I can do this funny whistle thing with my hands and I taught art for a while at an adult learning centre.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Usually the most valuable things someone shares with you they have little idea they've done it so hopefully you'll find something about me worth discovering and I'm quite sure I will about you.
