About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have a fun, relaxing summer

ABOUT ME

Hmm... well, i'm recently unemployed from a gardening charity, but finding plenty to fill my days with... how did I manage to fit everything in before?!

I am studying a counselling course at the moment, and hope to be some kind of listening therapist type person eventually.

Politically, I'm of an anarchist/ libertarian persuasion and am involved in groups locally working on environmental and social justice issues.

I'm into bikes and cycling. I just built a new touring bike and am taking out for a month-long spin across the Balkans in July 2011 :-) I'd love to become a bike mechanic one day, but there's so much to learn!

I love the outdoors, the countryside. I love snow and sunshine... although its often just rain here, but that's ok too.

I love craft, although the bikes have got in the way of my crafting in recent years. Crochet, knitting, making stuff out of junk, screen printing, drawing cartoons are the sorts of things I'm into when I have the time.

I also am a big fan of real ale, and enjoy brewing at home too. The most successful brew i've made was a lovely cherry wine. The least successful was an exploding ale where you had to stand three feet away with the glass when the bottle was opened.

I'm really into vegan baking and cooking with seasonal veg. I do also eat skipped (dumpstered) dairy and eggs though, but wouldn't buy that stuff cos I think the meat and dairy industries and big food businesses in general are bad people.

I want to learn how to garden.. but I say this every year and it hasn't happened yet... although I haven't killed my herb garden on my window sill yet!

I'm quite cynical and sarcastic, but I'm an optimist really.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to come and borrow a few couches in the next month or two as me and my friend Rich cycle across the Balkans!

We also have a couch at our big communal house here in Edinburgh, which folk can come and stay on from time to time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed on the couches of one or two people that friends have met through couchsurfing, and we've had couchsurfers come to stay at houses I have lived or stayed in. But i've never officially become a member until now.
