About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My husband and I live in Wallingford (in between London and Oxford). We went travelling for nine months in North and South America. We work Monday to Friday and often weekends too so don't have loads of time to host. But we had such a wonderful time couchsurfing in the USA that we'd love to repay the karma and have people to stay with us.

Wallingford is a lovely town, with the remains of a castle, beautiful parks, the river and lots of nice pubs and restaurants. There are trains to London from nearby Cholsey which takes about an hour. The other way is Oxford and you can catch a bus to the centre of the city which takes about 30 minutes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had couchsurfers to stay previously through my friend who did all the leg work. They were all lovely and interesting. My husband and I travelled through the USA and stayed with couchsurfers finest hosts from Rhode Island to Florida and had an amazing time.

We hosted when we lived in Windsor for a short time and it was wonderful to be able to repay the favour but we'd love to do more.

Interests

Cycling, politics, watching epic TV series (including Breaking Bad, West Wing, The Wire, Sopranos and best of all - Greys Anatomy), live music, eating bad things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Arcade Fire, Blur, Friendly Fires

Boyhood, Finding Nemo, Dirty Dancing, The Descendents

The Great Gatsby, travel books - McCarthy's Bar, anything by Bill Bryson and Michael Palin

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sky dived in New Zealand - a cliché I know but it was truly amazing especially for someone who is a nervous flier and hates heights.
Walked the Lost City trail in Colombia, a tough but rewarding four days with a record number of mosquito bites.
Stand up! Only once but it was didn't go awfully.

Teach, Learn, Share

I learnt spanish whilst I was travelling and we've continued lessons so it'd be great to practice a bit. Otherwise, we can show you around Wallingford, introduce you to some good pubs. I studied history and politics as well so being interested about the past of the places I visit is in my nature.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We would love to cook for our hosts to thank them for their hospitality if they were happy to let us loose in the kitchen. And help around the house generally. We could do a bit of gardening as well! At the very least, we'd take you out for dinner/drinks to say thank you for having us.
