About Me

I'm a writer, English teacher and support worker. I also teach a bit of Spanish, work in bars and run creative arts/drama/nature/music sessions for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues. I'm currently daydreaming and plotting ways to be a full time nomad. I haven't updated this profile very much since 2009 when I joined...(I haven't changed much)...but some big things that have changed are that I no longer have a house, I live on a canal boat when I'm in England. My daughter Evie is now almost 21 and lives away at University. My boat is tiny so I don't usually host anymore, but I'll consider requests in case you can have the boat and I will sleep somewhere else...
Update September 2024...now a full time nomad and not planning on ever living in England again 🎉 🥳

I couldn't live without these 4 things: nature, travel, music and writing. I enjoy having interesting, deep conversations, learning, sharing, enjoying life, experiencing new things, challenging myself and daydreaming far too much. I love hiking, festivals, cooking, reading tarot, yoga, making herbal remedies, growing my own food, and having as much fun as possible.
If that sounds like your cup of tea, send me a request. Hosting is generally a brilliant experience that I miss doing almost every day like we did in Spain (where I used to live for 5 years; I'm now back home in Yorkshire but available for meet ups. I'm leaving the UK in September 2024 to travel. Plans are Albania, Thailand, Vietnam, Ecuador and a load of others...I'm so excited ☺️

My philosophies in life are to treat people the way you want to be treated. Give without doing it to receive. Always say yes if you don´t have a good reason to say no. Spread love. See the beauty in life. Be positive. Have fun. Never judge other people. Find your own path. Take trauma as teacher and forgive easily.
And find your own philosophy! I like this quote a lot:

"Love, love, love! Because when we have harnessed for ourselves the power of love, once again in human history man will have discovered fire"
-(Teilhard de Chardin).

About sowerby bridge where my boat is: This is where 'Happy Valley' and a few more series were filmed. It's really beautiful scenery and great for biking, walking, and eating/drinking too. I don't (or can't) always plan ahead and I'm chaotic and disorganised, so you're more likely to get a positive reply if you're passing through spontaneously or within a week or two. As long as I'm not working I'm generally happy to meet.

It´s the best way of experiencing a place and you do literally make friends all over the world. I've hosted over 70 CSers (plus other non CSers and random folk over ten years. 90% were great experiences. I mainly host, but if I'm travelling I always couchsurf if I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

Loads of weird shit about consciousness and psychedelics and the esoteric and mystical that most people aren't into ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think conversations about awesome travel experiences are reserved for meeting over beers or brews. I've definitely got myself into a load of very weird situations while travelling alone in Greece, Cuba, Turkey, Morocco to name a few. Really good book material, although scary at times :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Exactly :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Fun, conversation, cooking, laughing, music, beer, showing you the local scenery, tourist attractions and nightlife, enjoying nature, and also tarot and rune readings, herbal remedies etc should you need any ;)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Croatia, Cuba, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Morocco, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, Spain
