About Me
*** Might be able to host, although having a lot of friends over! Please message me preferably some days ahead; I'll try to answer, although quite busy working and entertaining friends :)***
Easy-going, positive, calm and considerate girl/ woman. Dutch by origin, but traveling most of the time since 2,5 years now; the best decision in a loooong time (maybe since forever :)). Love to learn languages and getting to know other types of cultures, jokes, foods, and habits. Not too tall and therefore easy to turn into a compact guest that fits on sofas and airbeds too :)
When staying on someone's couch I love to make breakfast oats or eggs for us, or cook dinner, or snacks or, or, or :) Sharing food and drinks (mateeee!) is what I think is connecting many of us; by making it a moment to really sit down, or prepare the food, and have a good chat whilst eating, is a big chunk of what makes traveling so interesting to me. Or just wake up and start the day with a smile!
Quite an easy, happy (couch) camper, if you'd ask me :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling won when debating with office life within the nowadays so dreaded system. So at the moment, I'm happily 'homeless' most of the time, but finding homes and families all the time while being on the road. Through Couchsurfing, but also many times in 'real life', through friends(-or-family-of-friends-of-friends) of surfers, and lovely souls I meet 'in the wild'.
The stays with local friends are amongst my most beautiful moments. The plain sharing, talking, eating and learning from and with each other, culturally and as human beings, means way more to me than seeing places or things.
On the hosting side, I enjoy having surfers (and travelers outside of CS) over and share some time. Or, if there's a busy schedule (on either or both sides), to point out nice places or join them for more authentic stuff to do in Amsterdam.
It's such a sweet system to share what you have and give back for what has been given to me so often while on the road!
Interests
While traveling, my surroundings change and my interests change along. Depending on what there is to do in a certain area, I will try out new stuff. But studying and enhancing my newer languages is one of the always recurring main hobbies. It's also one of the reasons that I'm mainly attracted to Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries.
If I'm not checking out lyrics of Spanish/ Portuguese songs, books or articles in those languages, or talk about it to get better, I can also enjoy reading books and articles when indoors, and go to yoga, listen to music or just wander around and get 'lost' for hours. Within busy city centers, mountain areas, dunes, beaches or anywhere, really. Or just sit, stare, drink coffee and people watch/ listen. Many things work for me, to be honest!

Music, Movies, and Books
Sometimes I wish I had a good answer to this :) It's always depending on moment, place, time, situation and how I am feeling. As an example; I'm reading a book on psychology and personality disorders, on self growth and a piece of fiction about a teenager's adventurous (love) life.
On the playlist right now, there's some Russian rap/ hiphop that I don't know the name of, all records of Lisandro Aristimuño (my current Argentinian hero) and a mixture of Spanish and Portuguese songs that range from national rock to awful folkloric or super commercial, but they make me feel so happy! Singer-songwriters, some music to writer/ read/ meditate on.. A mixture!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Pff. One...
To see a mama sea turtle lay her eggs under a full moon sky on an empty beach was pretty perfect.
As well as singing silly songs (sober) on a karaoke night in Mexico and not care about how ugly it was.
I could list some more, but summarised it comes down to the best thing I've probably done; quit my job, become a freelancer and jump in the adventure of trying to travel/ live abroad/ live cheap in warmer, sunnier, calmer places and be extremely happy!
Teach, Learn, Share
Yeah.. exactly that!
Just by hanging out, cooking together, wander around, chat and be silent, I find there's so much to learn, to teach and to share.
