ABOUT ME

Søren Scott is an American-Danish hybrid. After graduating from high school in the state of Maryland, he went to China to teach English in Changsha, Hunan for a semester. Now he is studying chemistry at the University of Copenhagen. Søren likes music, bike rides, science, politics, and travel; but more than anything else, he likes what he hasn't tried yet.

PHILOSOPHY

Whatever forces and processes created this life and this universe, it might not make sense to personify you, but I just want to say: this is awesome, this is genius. Thank you.

I like bicycling, especially traveling across country by bike. I hope to some day have the time and money to go around the world by bike. It is appealing to me as a fun and sustainable way to get around.
I play jazz piano and a little bit of guitar. I love music and going to concerts. Part of my brain is always busy making music.
I am interested in international politics and like learning about new cultures. I'm an addict of having my mind expanded.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Arriving at the Three Gorges Dam in Hubei, China. My friend and I had gone 900km by bike and boat through constant physical and linguistic challenges. Finally seeing our destination, immense and majestic, is something I will never forget.
The Distortion street party in Copenhagen, Denmark. The biggest outdoor party in Denmark. There were blocks and blocks of streets completely full of festive people. The weather was perfect, and the happy atmosphere was completely overwhelming.

Some political beliefs that I hold strongly, and like debating, especially with people who know more than me:

An economic model that requires constant growth as a prerequisite is a bad idea.
Proportional representation with multiple parties, and smooth majority rule is necessory for modern democracy to function and represent its people.
There should be a global CO2 cap and trade regime, and a global financial transactions tax.
0.25 is a good value for a country's Ginni index.
Marijuana should be legal!!!
