About Me

I am Brazilian, and I grew up in a small town called Jaguaré, which is in the state of Espirito Santo. I've been working on some areas of the public service (as Notary); I really appreciate my friends (those of childhood, and those who I got along the way) and I believe that their company is essential to be happy; I love my old books, my films, plants and pets. And fundamentally believe that the connections we make, people who have become close and we share moments are what really give significance to life. At the moment I am dedicating myself to try develop my skills with the English language (which in short means that I have seen many films and series).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think I could say many things (including, of course, the fact of not spending money), but the most attractive is undoubtedly meet new people. Especially those predisposed to know strangers and gets them in their own homes. This willingness to make new connections is essential in how I try to see the world around me. I believe the food, music, politics and the way people live in a place is more attractive than the sights alone.

Interests

I like culture in general, especially literature and film. Although it cannot say I'm pretty good at it, I like to shoot (best landscapes that people, I think).

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is kind of outdated. Usually I listen to music made before I was born. Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles. Latest Coldplay. Singles in general (those that stick and will not leave, like "Sweet Caroline”, "Heroes”, "Stand by Me") and movie soundtracks. I also have a natural propensity to like Indian music, from anywhere in the world.
Cinema is broader. I like all kinds of blockbuster, but I have a preference for Indies. Some favorites are "Jurassic Park", "Back to the Future”, "Forrest Gump”, "The Silence of the Lambs", "Philadelphia”, "Before Sunrise" (and Sunset / Midnight too), " Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain"“, Goodbye Lenin!", " Train of Life", " No ", The Great Beauty", "History Boys", "In the Heat of the Night”, "The Graduate", "Dead Poets Society", "The Lives of Others", "Wings of Desire", "Fried Green Tomatoes”, "Y Tu Mama Tambien". All Meryl Streep has done or will do ("The Hours”, "The Bridges of Madison County”, "Sophie's Choice" to name preferred).
I love reading (almost) anything. My favorite authors are Michael Cunningham, Jorge Amado, Agatha Christie, Ernest Hemingway, Arthur Conan Doyle, Gabriel García Márquez, Jules Verne, Mario Vargas Llosa, John Steinbeck, Stephen King, Edmund White, John Grisham, David Leavitt, Jonathan Franzen, Isabel Allende, Sidney Sheldon, among others. Among the books it is impossible not to quote "One Hundred Years of Solitude", "Dead Sea", "News of a Kidnapping", "The Bad Girl”, "The House of the Spirits”, "The Grapes of Wrath”, "For Whom the Bell Tolls”, " The Hours”, "A Home at the End of the World", "Freedom", "The Green Mile", "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Atonement", "A Time to Kill", "How Green Was My Valley" etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most important thing was to face the fear of doing certain things and see in the end that is fully possible. Climb a mountain, take a trip alone. The set of some actions that creates a greater significance.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some words of portuguese, how to make homemade pasta, help to paint a wall, clear a garden, take a good photo, among other talents.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a great cook (at least that's what my friends tell me!). I also love outdoor activities, plants and gardening, pets (dogs, bees, fish and birds). I would not say that it is a highly developed skill but i fish relatively efficiently.
