About Me

Fundamentally anti-fundamental, I am just looking to go through the chaos that is life and to leave it in a better condition than I found it. I find unparalleled happiness when walking through the streets of a new city, hiking through the countryside of a foreign landscape, or engaging the myriad of people on this planet who are simply looking to enjoy themselves while hopelessly, yet valiantly, attempting to get out of life alive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CS has been a life-altering experience that has opened me up to the lives and homes of so many around the world; most of whom I never would have known otherwise. It has helped put a "face" on the many corners of the Earth, and undoubtedly left me a better person.

I, like many, support the idea of CS being something far more than a "free-bed". I try my best to host or surf with people I really feel interested in getting to know, or who I think I can learn something from.

Interests

Everything. Basically, I am an aspiring Magellan of both the tangible and abstract.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tool, Thrice, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, RHCP, Foo Fighters, any of Tom Morello's work, anything that doesn't involve singing about tractors or repeating monosyllabic phrases involving shots.

American Beauty; Blood Into Wine; V for Vendetta; Foreign Films; anything Quentin Tarantino. 20 years later and Jurassic Park is still the best dinosaur movie ever made, bar none.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Almost died while lost hiking in the ambiguous border region of Tibet-Western Sichuan. In retrospect, it was one of the greatest experiences in my life. In hindsight, I probably should have studied Mandarin more.

Dove with sharks and hung out with Komodo dragons in Indonesia, unintentionally joined a religious cult ceremony in the Swedish wilderness, uh would not dying from numerous infectious diseases be considered amazing?

Teach, Learn, Share

I seek to learn something every single day. While I am hardly an expert in anything, I have always been an avid student in geopolitics, science, sociology, anthropology, and international relations. I am open to learning everything and anything, whether it be a new language, or a new skill, sport, cooking method, etc. Ask me anything, and I'll probably reciprocate.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've been sarcastically, genuinely, mockingly, and admiringly called a "human encyclopedia". This is largely thanks to my obsession with learning and reading. With that said, not ALL of my knowledge is particularly useful or pertinent. Nonetheless, I'll probably share some of it with you whether you asked me to or not ;)

If you don't know what burpees are yet, you will after meeting me.
