About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See as much of the world as possible, especially the natural world

ABOUT ME

My husband and I LOVE to travel and backpack. We are both self-employed and therefore take lots of long weekends to backpack at least once per month throughout the Southeast. I have backpacked and hitch-hiked extensively throughout Europe during 1997 (unfortunately, that was before the CS2 Project, so I spent many nights in my tent). I lived in the Czech Republic for the last half of 1999 and used that as a "home base" for traveling.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to balance my need for travel and adventure with my reluctant recognition that I can't have those things all the time (because it requires money, which requires having a job, which prevents constant travel and adventure). I am always trying to take advantage of what little time we have here on this planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to be available to host, but unfortunately we live 45 miles from Atlanta. Since there is no public transportation available to our town, we would only be a viable option for those on road trips, or for those who have a rental car.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When hitch-hiking for 4 months across Europe, the locals who gave us rides would often invite us to stay a night at their place and would show us around. I learned then that there is no better way to travel - it's a unique experience one gets with a "local" guide, rather than the lack of connection you feel when staying in hotels.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ahhhhh, music and books and movies. I'm so grateful for these things...too many good ones to list. Maybe we'll get to discuss this over drinks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Completed the Annapurna Circuit in 16 days - a 160+/- mile trail in the Himalayas of Nepal that crosses a 18,000 ft mountain.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are pretty avid backpackers, and have enough gear to outfit 2 or 3 folks who want to tag along. We can certainly share TONS of knowledge about gear and backpacking skills. As for learning, we are open to it all.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Peru, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Viet Nam
