About Me

CURRENT MISSION

what you make it, man

ABOUT ME

Hola! I'm Siobhan, and I've concluded that my so-called 'chill' disposition can be attributed to growing up with a name nobody can pronounce. Well, that coupled with being from California. Worrrrd...

I'm currently living in Manhattan on a whim. It's awesome. I'm sort of planning on spending some time getting to know the US a bit better during/after this New York stint. I'd like to return to Latin America. Just trusting my gut and going where the wind takes me at this point. I get antsy when I've been in one place too long or when my hair has looked the same for a while, I think succulents are rad, trains are romantic, I've been vegetarian basically forever, don't like robots very much and my favorite color is purple.

QUICK UPDATE: Back in San Francisco!

PHILOSOPHY

I tend to feel most alive out on the Pacific Ocean.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So, I'm new to this website. However, my couch has certainly been well-surfed in its own right. Although I've known about CouchSurfing for a long time, it never occurred to me so much to sign up because when I had a (semi)permanent residence in San Francisco, there was constantly someone staying over anyway. I've hosted friends and friends of friends from around the world and (dare I say) showed them a pretty good time!

And yes, I've certainly slept on my fair share of friendly couches.

Interests

Hiking, backpacking, sailing, paddling, etc., ecological economics, permaculture & creating community, politics, music, dancing (badly), fine wine & cheap whiskey, astronomy, history, comedy, pinball, reading & writing... I'm interested in everything and anything, as long as there's some real passion behind it. Storytelling and learning from people sharing ideas, skills, experiences and dreams.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like documentaries and music. We Jam Econo, Be Here To Love Me, Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus, DiG!, When You're Strange, The Devil and Daniel Johnston.. Otherwise, things like Withnail & I, Sweet & Lowdown, Pierrot Le Fou, Pi, Marx Brothers, Life Aquatic, Big Lebowski, Rear Window, The American Astronaut...

I love the beautiful enclaves of truth that exist in most genres of music. I'm big on the blues, country/folk/bluegrass, hardcore and anarcho-punk, hip hop, psychedelic, weird electronic music, jazzy stuff, whatever.

Tom Robbins, Hemingway, Rimbaud, Kerouac, HST, stories that cater to wandering. I like reading nonfiction books about history, philosophy, the collapse of civilization and astrophysics sometimes.
