About Me

Wonderfully strange and magical cultural outlier on an extended pilgrimage, practicing and learning about local-global regenerative culture design, challenging the place-based condition of building community.

CURRENT MISSION

Weaving a network of grassroots initiatives to collaborate and transform society, to reconnect with our wild perfect selves and the beautiful bio spaceship that is our shared home; on a journey for 3 years now, investigating big things like decentralised power systems, ecovillages, alternative education, resilient economics and food distribution. I'm involved with projects to design healthier societies and figuring out what we can do to make each others dreams come to life! I believe in expanding our potential, exploring our possibilities, living for a cause, and coming together to play 🤗

WORDS TO DESCRIBE ME

nice, practical, caring, contemplative, magical

PHILOSOPHY

Interested in every unique perspective, in helping where help is most needed, in applying permaculture principles to the fabric of our world. no fuss. sharing laughs. love is all.
i have always done things a little differently.. it's my greatest asset and my ticket to freedom. I ride gentle breezes and weave songs from the connections

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Originally to share stories, food and kindness with travellers coming through my hometown. now i'm trading in my roots for wings and am spending time as a pollinator, falling more in love with this planet and all the humans on it! I practice turning frustration into a chance for personal growth so even if I don't click with someone I still learn so much.
Couchsurfing reminds me how incredible it is that we can be so diverse yet so connected. And to see how many people on here seem so cool, many of you look like we could become great friends!

Interests

Ancient mysteries and modern evolution.
I nurture various relationships; to land, microbes, animals, each other, myself. There's an underlying theme of all my interests: to commit my energy to playful prosperity. To bring a sense of harmony to the profound and vibrant chaos. It's a bit tao.
I'm here to leave beautiful traces and enjoy the hell out of it!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm down for anything that's gonna challenge my perspective and teach life skills (particularly self sufficiency)
Current favourite: Spell of the Sensuous - David Abram
Last read: Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert M Pirsig
Currently reading: The Omnivore's Dilemma - Michael Pollan

Some of my favourite music (its all over the place):
Lauryn Hill, Aphex Twin, kwajbasket, Jordan Rakei, Sade, @Peace, Four Tet, J. Dilla, Oopoe, Usher, Mos Def, Mt Eerie/Microphones, Andre 3000, Bonobo, Mo Kolors and a whole lot of soundcloud uploads everywhere in between. RnB, EDM, ambient, folk songs, singalongs around the campfire.

These days I like wholesome living like getting good sleep and doing yoga, nurturing friendships and relationship with non human life too. So I don't watch a lot of movies or TV but here's a glimpse of my taste when the day/night calls for some entertainment:
Twin Peaks (ok this I'm a little obsessed about)
Rick & Morty
Sense 8
Adventure Time

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Led the establishment of an experimental community lounge/cafe staffed by volunteers, aiming to integrate aspects of the paradigm shift in the heart of Wellington city, for free/koha (donation); hosting meetings and parties (gigs), chill spaces and a wifi connection, a zine library, regular library, craft resources and a self-organized timetable of juicy opportunities to connect and learn.

Teach, Learn, Share

always learning, always teaching, always thinking and down for hearty discussions! maybe we can have a jam or a cipher if you're into making music :)
i can grow your kombucha/sprouts, help in the garden (even if you're only at the design stage), help with your english speaking, look after children (i have 2 nieces and 4 nephews who i've spent lots of time with), we can cook some delicious local/vegan food and exchange recipes (though i'm more of a winging-it type of chef)! Lets collaborate and make tomorrow better than today.

i'm keen to learn about local cultures and indigenous wisdom, connection to land, ceremony, plants and stories. i love plant medicine and would be keen to know anything about local plants! if you're able to help me speak some of the local language that would be a blessing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

all the skills and knowledge above, plus: someone to dance, sing and laugh with, a reason to go for a hike (if you want to show me your area!), tasty vegan food and amateur nutritional information lol
