About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm getting ready for an odyssey across Africa

ABOUT ME

I'm originally from Canada. Moved to Vancouver in my early twenties, did various things like get into acting, heli-logging and did a lot of hiking.
Now, I live in a suburb of Los Angeles-Manhattan Beach.
I'm an explorer by heart and I love hockey.

I've been planning/researching/training for a trip going from South Africa to Morocco.
In terms of the countries...that is still to be determined, but I will be going on the Eastern side of the continent. If you've done such or are interested of doing something like this, please, don't be afraid to contact me. There will be lots of shooting (stills/video) experiences and, again, if there are people that have done such any REAL advice would be appreciated. As far as I'm concerned, Couch surfing, is one of the catalysts for the success of this Odyssey.

One question is in terms of video/camera equipment which countries have you had problems with either the police, customs or the like??

I'm a very inquisitive person and you will know that after a few minutes talking to me. People and their skills, brains, travels fascinate me...
I've learned to listen more and talk less.

Cheers

PHILOSOPHY

I treat people with good old fashion kindness and most of the times it comes back my way. ...If it doesn't I hit them with a hockey stick.
Cheers

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would be more than happy to offer some guidance or go out for a coffee or drink locally.

L.A., San Diego, the Central Coast and San Francisco are known like the back of my hands, but every so often someone pulls out a surprise. What is the surprise from you?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None. I heard about this from a fellow filmmaker. Looking forward to meeting other people in the world!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies...Goodfellas, Once upon a time in the west, Apocalypse Now.
Books...I'm always reading something technical.I've read books on Algorithms, Law, film making, etc. Rarely do I read for "enjoyment."
Music...I have a rockers heart but I do listen to everything. Basically, it has to have substance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been trapped in mountains and Jungles; and I always seem to get out.
Wrote a book. Cannonballed a couple of times from various places. Auto crossed did some rally driving, nothing like you have in Europe though.
Rode a motorcycle through the Sierra's and up Highway one.
Some intense things...

Teach, Learn, Share

I tutored kids in Compton (South Central) for 6 months. One of my best experiences I've had. Taught acting in small retreat for kids in New Mexico.
I can offer film making advice, but my expertise lies in shooting.
Because of my heli-logging/hiking experience I can read/teach people to read the mountains. Clouds and tracking skills are not as good, but better than most people here in L.A.;)

Countries I’ve Visited

Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Portugal, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
