About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meeting people, getting to know couchsurfing.

ABOUT ME

I am a social worker, and I guess I chose to be that because I am really much interested in (or maybe even curious about) people, in their experiences in life, in what they like and dislike.
I am interested in a lot of things like reading, music, movies, football, walking, riding my bike, dancing, history, psychology, photography, good eating, drinking beer or dry wine.
I like to have a good laugh, but I am not much of an entertainer.
I'd love to work with children, but unfortunately I don't at the moment.
I don't eat meat, but I do eat fish and seafood and I don't mind people sitting next to me and preparing or eating meat.
I don't smoke.

PHILOSOPHY

"I rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints: The sinners are much more fun!" (Billy Joel)

"One doesn't come to Italy for niceness, one comes for life."
"I do believe in those, who make their fellow creatures happy."
"It [the kingdom of music] will accept those whom breeding and intellect and culture have alike rejected."
"Mistrust all enterprises that require new clothes."
All quotes: E.M. Forster, "Room with a view"

"Friendship is one soul in two bodies." (Aristoteles)

"An idiot cannot insult me. An intelligent person won't." (unknown)

"It doens't matter where you're born or come from, it matters where your head is at." (Paul Stanley, KISS)

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you, it is much, much more important than that." (Bill Shankly)

"Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten." (B.F. Skinner)

"Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others." (Grouch Marx)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined cs, because I was looking for a way to travel to Italy and to really get in contact with the people, to see how they live and after all to practice my poor Italian (I am still a beginner).
Sooner or later I hope to be able to offer a couch, too.

I love to go to away matches of my football team, VfL Bochum with my friends, because we don't only go there to see the match, but to meet supporters from the home team. After the match, we are looking for some bar or pub where we can meet locals, have a beer or two together and talk about the match, our clubs and life in general. :-) I hope to find contacts like this on cs, hopefully a little bit more intense.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been to Berlin, Stockholm and Toronto and had a great time with my wonderful hosts.

Interests

Meeting people, VfL Bochum (German soccer club), learning Italian, riding my bike, "bike-politics", traveling by bike, my sponsored children in Kenya, Zambia and India.
