About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy the travel experience of visiting new places and its cultures, meeting new people and share knowledge and experiences.

ABOUT ME

I love to learn new things and keep evolving my knowledge. I like to talk with foreigners about anything, culture, cooking, technology, astronomy, cars, politics, etc. I feel amazed about what we can learn in just a few minutes with other people.

I practice track and field, currently running 400 meters sprint with a personal best of 52.19! I feel pleasure for doing outside activities, like running and hiking.

Always like to learn something new, so one of my hobbies at the moment is learning about car mechanics and electronics with Arduino.

You can take a look in some of my travels in instagram at @davidmag35.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy life in the moment, following your own beliefs ... but don't forget to save a little piece for the future :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not very active in CS. I love to show my city and help people/couchsurfers that I met before when possible, but at the moment my free time isn't much. But it's a thing I want to change in the future, to provide more help and welcome more people in my town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since 2013, when I had my first experience I was amazing how people welcome me and my brother in USA. Really enjoy the experience and hope for next upcoming travels I could have the same experience with other people.

Since then, in 2014 me and my brother went to Asia, visit the south west part, and love the people there, the difference of culture is really amazing and somethings mind blowing.

In 2015, we went back to USA, this time to sunshine land (Florida) for an amazing roadtrip around the south part of Florida. One again, we found amazing people there that took this trip to another level! Thanks again couchsurfing, for providing a way for same kind of people meet and exchange experiences!

Interests

I like to create stuff, on software and hardware side mainly to automate processes. Apart from that, I'm learning how to improve my cooking skill trying some new recipes every now and them. Since the end of 2018 I'm also learning Mandarin, with the main reason to explore China.

Music, Movies, and Books

Since 2015 I've star to read some books every year, mainly biography and technical books. Here are some I like:

- Shoe Dog: A memoir by the creator of NIKE.
- Daqui Ali - De Portugal e Singapura por terra. (Portuguese traveller that travel all the way from Portugal to Singapure, and back, by land)
- Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX and the quest for a fantastic future.
- Social Engineering: The art of human Hacking.

I like most of music types, from Pop to Techno, passing by Rock, Indie, Classical, Orchestra, etc.

I like most Sci-Fi, action and comedy movies. So I'm a huge fan of Jackie Chan.
Not much into Manga/Anime, but these two are my favourite ones:
- Dragon Ball
- Rurouni Kenshin / Samurai X

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Start learning SNOWBOARD! Just got addicted to it.

Walk about 9h in a Trail with my knees injured, when I was in the same week in the middle of the jungle, climb up for 3 hours.

The view of Grand Canyon is ... just ... amazing! A great place to do trails and think outside of our body.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my knowledge in some areas like almost everything related with computers (software or hardware), portuguese history and cooking, running advices, etc.

I like to absorb cultural information about the places I visited because is a very good method to get knowledge, tasting food is another good way to absorb that culture too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The most valuable thing I probably can share is knowledge about Portugal. The second thing is prepare some portuguese dishes or share any knowledge or tips about my favorite areas of expertise (computer related).
