About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Sailing around the carribbean, but making a trip to Ft. Lauderdale in between voyages

ABOUT ME
I love the outdoors, whether it’s sailing, hiking mountains, or riding and working with horses, nature has always been my ultimate happy place. I've also always loved working with my hands. I've done blacksmithing and jewelry work, carpentry, luthiery, leatherwork. And cooking! I worked for years professionally, but now I mostly cook for passion. One of my most favorite parts of traveling is discovering new foods and flavors and ingredients in each new place I visit.
Music is also very important to me. Playing it, listening to it, even just working on musical instruments. My acoustic guitar goes everywhere with me, although these days I’ve aquired a more managable travel size one, small enough to take cross-country on the back of my motorcycle, or stow in even very cramped sailboats.

PHILOSOPHY

"Everything is beautiful. Nothing Hurts."
-Kurt Vonnegut (paraphrased)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with a few couchsurfing hosts before, although i actually met many them through friends or completely at random. But everyone I have stayed with has been some of the most amazing people i have ever met, and I can't wait to meet more incredible people!

Interests

Besides food, music, and horse I also love dancing(swing, tango, salsa), reading, camping(i'm doing alot of this, as I travel around), sunsets, intellectual conversations about philosophy, literature, politics, or just the meaning of life. And perhaps more than anything, I love adventure!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most kinds of music, but most strongly folk, rock, folk-rock, blues, classic metal, some classical (Beethoven, Chopin...), and Irish and Scottish folk music.

I'll read anything that catches my eye, which for the past few years has been a lot of the great literature from the 19th and 20th centuries. A few of my favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, and Alexandre Dumas.

The only kind of movies i like to watch are good ones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have hitchhiked from Paris to the Sahara, sailed on a 110 year old boat to the jungles and waterfalls and black sand beaches of Martinique, swam with the glowing plankton of the Atlantic in cold New England and bathwater warm carribbean, seen too many sunsets to count with friends too good to forget, and slept on the tops of mountains beneath all the stars of the universe.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook, especially for friends. Good food, good conversation, good music. They all go together

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, Germany, Gibraltar, Martinique, Morocco, Netherlands, Saint Martin (French part), Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In
