About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See things, learn things and eat things!

ABOUT ME

I'm a curious person. I like to have fun and to learn things, and if I can combine both at the same time, great!

I really like cooking (eating), for example, and here in Brussels I've made friends from all over Europe and Africa and I've been able to learn and try out all sorts of recipes.

In my spare time I like to play football, but I'm distinctly average). I like to read too, recently about natural sciences (a huge cap in my knowledge), but I don't manage to get through many books very fast. I also try to do things that are unusual for me quite often. Recently that meant playing a round of golf for the first time (at which worse than distinctly average, it turns out), doing a zumba class or going to a concert (read: reaffirming my appreciation of classical music, but wishing it ended at the interval).

At home, I believe in trying to be sustainable, cycling, recycling and general nice things!

PHILOSOPHY

My mind's telling me no, but my stomach's telling me YES...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I originally created this account four years ago when I went traveling with my friend Tolani. We heard about it close to the end of our trip and were not able to get verified and vouched for when we were away. I guess getting started is the hardest!

I am moving back to London after the summer, where I will have PLENNNTY of space in my lovely new house, and where I understand there is quite an active CS community. I'd like to get involved in the 'conversation tables' as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm hoping to start becoming an active Couchsurfer this summer! I'm traveling to Brazil for 6 weeks to have a nice summer (winter) and improve my Portuguese. I will be going solo and I'm hoping CS will be a great way of meeting nice people I can share experiences and good times with.

Music, Movies, and Books

I saw Tropa de Elite recently. Entertaining, if controversial!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once got stuck in a rather dangerous part of Colombia where the FARC were quite active at the time. I hadn't intended to drive straight through but the bus changed route. I experienced incredible kindness from other passengers concerned for the safety of someone who wasn't from there, and a family insisted I stay with them even though their surroundings were very modest.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my language, my slang and our 'English understatement', my knowledge of recipes, my (sometimes poor) jokes. In practical terms, I've also worked as a personal trainer, so I can always share fitness advice too.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bangladesh, Colombia, Latvia, Mexico, Paraguay, Thailand, Ukraine, United States, Venezuela
