About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new people while traveling the world and to make even the slightest impact on each person I meet.

ABOUT ME

I'm very friendly. I'm rather outgoing and love trying new things. I love school and learning. I love learning not just educational things but also about people and cultures. I'm a huge people watcher. I enjoy watching people when I find myself in a new location and seeing how their behaviors are similar or different to the people and places I already know. I enjoy learning about and experiencing new cultures and customs. I love travelling and visiting new places. I also love helping people in any way I can. I laugh a lot; it's not hard to make me laugh. I have a great sense of humor, and I know how to laugh at myself, too. I'm always smiling; my friends would probably say that's one of my defining features--I always have a smile on my face. I'm very optimistic, and I always try to bring out the best in people and in every situation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing primarily to meet new people--locals. I think it's a great way to travel (specially for someone on a student budget like myself) because I can save my money for other parts of my travels, but I can also meet tons of new people who can teach me a thing or two about their culture and city in which they live and maybe even create lifelong friendships. I love travelling and experiencing new cultures, and I think this is an awesome way to do both at the same time. I think most people on Couchsurfing are also on here because they enjoy traveling, so I think if I can meet people through this opportunity and actually become friends with them, I can potentially find new travel buddies as well. :)

I host because it provides me with the opportunity to give back. I can teach potential surfers a bit about my current city and show them around the way other people have showed me around their own cities.

Interests

My goal is to eventually go to medical school, so the sciences and anything medically related definitely interest me and make my life engaging. I am very interested in scientific research as well. I love running. I'm very athletic. I did gymnastics for 18 years, and I have been running for 15 years. In September 2014, I ran my first half marathon; I'd like to run one more and then start training for the Chicago Marathon. One of my goals is to someday run the world--literally. I want to pursue my interest of travel and run different races in different countries.

I also really enjoy photography. I love photographing the world around me--be it the awesome things I see when I travel or the awesome things I see in my everyday life. I believe we can find beauty anywhere and in anything if we know the right way to look at it. I believe that even the simplest things can be full of beauty and magic. I also love cooking and, obviously, eating. I think food is a great conversation starter and a great way for people to share their cultures with each other. I love learning how to cook new dishes.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love pretty much all music. Some artists on my iPod right now that I listen to a lot are Hozier, Milky Chance, Twenty One Pilots, AWOLNATION, Imagine Dragons, The Neighbourhood, George Ezra, and Atlas Genius.

All-time favorite books: 1984 by George Orwell and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

Favorite movies include: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises (Batman is my favorite superhero of all time), The Notebook, The Phantom of the Opera, Stick It

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and Spanish, common American expressions, how to cook a Mexican meal, how to do a back flip (or more simply a cartwheel).

I am interested in learning anything and everything new--whatever others may have to offer, I'm always interested!

I can share interesting conversation, opportunities to laugh, or some good new music. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer good conversation. It's always fun and interesting to exchange cultures, customs, traditions, and experiences. I can also offer hosts the opportunity to cook together and share a good meal. Food is the best way to bond with people! =]
