About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn all there is to be taught by exploration and the simplictity of just doing, being and going,
ABOUT ME
I love people, especially meeting people, especially people that love to meet people... cuz then we have something in common :P
I love the outdoors, and I haven't found a single self powered method of travel I haven't loved! (ya, double negative, what are you gunna do about it?)
People call me a hippie but I disagree with them. I'll be the first to admit I have my materialistic tendencies, but I just like to play with toys. I enjoy learning/discovering all their little uses, benefits and faults; namely outdoor gear and tech stuff.
I'm a vegetarian, largely for environmental reasons, who comes from a family and up bringing that doesn't really mesh with conscious decisions regarding food.
I LOVE COFFEE, for all its aromatic glorious-ness.
I love reading... fantasy and sci-fi largely... and yes
I'm a NERD! I love Tolkien's works. Saved the best for last
PHILOSOPHY
I was recently required to express my outdoor philosophy as part of an assignment for school. It was supposed to be 1 page... I wrote 9. In short, words have little bearing where depth and meaning is concerned. Experience and feeling is all that can explain what words can't touch. I live the life I live because its the life I lead. They say you can lead no one where you have not gone yourself, and 'they' are right. So then I go.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've told a lot of people about CS even before I joined. I hosted people happily as well.
If I had more money I'd happily donate it and still continue to couch surf despite being able to afford more 'luxury'.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was introduced to CS by a good friend, roommate and fellow Student. I've hosted a few people and thoroughly enjoyed the experience so I decided to dig deep and see what I find. I recently hosted a lovely couple from France who barely spoken english and I barely spoke french. We communicated more through spanish then our own languages. It made me really realize my personal culture gaps that I want to bridge.
Interests
Family and Friends! The more I live the more I want these integrated into living.
Books (LOTR!), coffee, conversations, food, CLIMBING, biking, swimming, paddling, camping, hiking, sleeping, DOGS! (and other animals of course), learning, language, etc...
Those things and many more in as many combinations in as great a frequency as possible!

Music, Movies, and Books
LOTR!, and Ian Irvine, Glen Cook, and by association and comparison (likely soon to be) Stephen Erikson,
Douglas Adams -- the man is a brilliance that does not border between anything but encompasses all things; amazing!
I like all kinds of movies, generally thought provoking ones, though I'll more then happily permit a 'leave-your-brain-at-the-door' into my collection if it kicks some serious @$$ (it feels wrong to curse here, don't know why)
Music... I don't think I could possibly narrow that down. I love to listen, play, sing, learn about and create it, but my skills are mostly vested in listening. :P I really like metal and acoustic stuff... and even more so when one style covers the other.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once was flying from Canada to Germany and while over the ocean watched the sun rise over the horizon on one side of the plane while midnight lay over the horizon on the other. I shut out the plane from my mind and imagined myself floating in free air at that point and place in time. It was iconic of my love of balance, and contrast, and made me want to sleep on the summit of a mountain just to see all 360 degrees of night and day simultaneously.
Teach, Learn, Share
Persistence and creativity/imagination can and will get you farther then most any other personality trait and are so widely applicable that if they were tangible I'd fill my pack with nothing but them and go anywhere with perfect peace of mind knowing that I'd figure everything out as I went.
I've gotten far with what persistence and imagination I have and I still wish I could have 10x more!
