ABOUT ME

I am just a normal guy, with a deep passion to learn as much about this world and the people I share it with as I can. I am currently a student at the University of Arkansas majoring in International Relations and European Studies. I was fortunate enough to live in Rome in the fall of 2010 and I had a wonderful time! I have been to a few places in the world now, and have found amazing things to love about all of them, and everyone I have met. I believe CS is the major reason for the incredible experiences I have had, and I look forward to my continuing journeys across the world, and the inspiring people I will meet.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life everyday trying to find the beauty and happiness in the world. I feel like we all have the power within us to make ourselves happy everyday, and we just have to find the good things in our lives and make the most of them.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope that I can be a courteous guest, and a kind host to anyone participating in CS, and that I may be able to encourage others to join this wonderful community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to CS by my girlfriend Michelle Murphy in the summer of 2009. We took a month long tour of the western United States and stayed with some fabulous people. Having experienced CS in a number of countries now, I must admit that it has completely changed my views on traveling. Going somewhere for tourism is a fine idea, but you can really only scratch the surface of a place by visiting it as an outsider. Couch Surfing gives you a glimpse of what it is like to be a local, someone with intimate knowledge of an area. You still get to see the tourist attractions, but you also are exposed to the rich history and life of a town or city that isn’t possible to access if you aren’t aware of where to find it. The anatomy of a place is never the same as the next, they may both be in the same country, and the people may speak the same language, but the heart of the city is never the same, and it takes the amazing members of the CS community to show you how to find it.

Interests

In my spare time I enjoy reading, mostly sci-fi and fantasy, watching movies, playing games, camping, hiking, partying with friends, and many more activities. I am always open to new experiences and I bet we can find something we enjoy together.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies. I can not claim to have seen every movie in the world, or even every popular, classic movie, but I have seen a great deal, some are excellent works of art with writing and acting that will blow you away. Some are are horrible in every single way, but they all have a special place in my heart.

I can generally enjoy just about any kind of music except country and rap. Of course there are always exceptions, and who knows you may know just the country or rap song that will make me cave...but I doubt it.

I have read the Wheel of Time series by the late Robert Jordan more times than I can count. I believe it may be one of the greatest, if not greatest literary work of our generation. I also greatly enjoy the works of Orson Scott Card, J.K. Rowling, David Farland, Stephen King, Issac Asimov, H.P. Lovecraft, and I am sure that I am forgetting a thousand more.
