ABOUT ME
A fairy tale
Once upon a time there was a girl from Maine
who loved the ocean and books.
She would sit by the sea - reading books about far-away lands. Wondering what/where/how they must be.
Always the day-dreamer
she would stare into space
imagining herself in some other place
rearing on horseback
flying a dragon
traveling to lands wild and free
suddenly one day she looked to the sea
kissed it goodbye
and walked away
free
an explorer at heart
she saddled her pony
said goodbye to the comforts of home
blew kisses to her loved ones
lingered over goodbyes
and set off to realize her dreams.
PHILOSOPHY
"Don't let your love be so confidential"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've only just discovered the site. So, I haven't participated much yet at all. Though I am planning on surfing and hosting. Currently I'm on the road in California, but once I arrive in Washington I hope to host, pending approval from my new housemates!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
No official CS surfs on the books yet, but I have certainly surfed outside of the CS site during my travels. My most recent was actually quite a serendipitous score. I was campaigning for Obama in Vegas and met this woman who I spoke with briefly in the campaign office. My travel partner and I told her of our travels from Maine and she said Venice Beach (her home) is a great place to visit if we're heading to LA and that we could come and stay with her. We weren't sure whether her offer was sincere and then we didn't see her for days afterward. My friend who was thin on traveling stamina decided to head home and I was left with no travel partner and no place to stay! Eeck! So I returned to the campaign office to try and track Naomi down. Alas she was no where to be seen, but one of the supervisors said he would try and contact her for me. It was election night - Obama had the presidency in his pocket. It was also less than 12 hours before she (Naomi) had said she would depart Vegas for LA and I still hadn't found her. I asked the supervisor if he had contacted her. He hadn't, but with a reminder he swiftly made a few calls found her number and handed it over to me. I contacted her immediately, we met up at the raucous Obama celebration party and made plans for the next days travel. What a relief! She has been the most gracious host. I've been here nearly a week, walking the beach, shopping at the farmer's markets, cooking fresh food, and relaxing. It's been lovely. Thank you Naomi!
