ABOUT ME
My home is Vancouver, but I've lived and traveled all over the country. I'm a firm believer that seeing your own country is as important as traveling around the world. I am in my second year of an amazing forestry (environmental management) master program where I got to spend the first year studying in Finland and get to explore eastern Canada for my second year. I am also having a lot of fun working part time at a non-profit, while I am living here in Fredericton.
Other than that I love being outdoors doing anything from hiking, kayaking, cycling to simply sitting on the grass reading. I'm also an aspiring internet geek and probably rely much too heavily on Google in my everyday life.
PHILOSOPHY
Technically James Joyce's philosophy, but I agree.
"Better pass boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fade and wither dismally with age."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to the concept, so I'm just educating myself on couch surfing and telling other people about it. I have hosted one couch surfer while I was living in Rovaniemi, Finland and met up with a few others. I am looking forward to my first experience as a surfer!
Interests
Dancing is my biggest passion. I did highland dancing for 10 years and took up ballroom in the last year. I love all styles of dancing though and am always up for learning something new. You can usually see me practicing my moonwalk down the aisle of grocery stores or highcuts at bus stops.
I also have an admittedly strange love of busses and public transport in general. It's just such a wonderful way to travel and I always end up meeting such interesting people.
I love hiking, kayaking and recently became interested in cycle touring with a great first trip cycling around Ireland!

Music, Movies, and Books
On some level I like all music even though overplayed top 40 songs usually begins to bore me, but the top 3 bands I never tire of are the Barenaked Ladies, Bloodhound Gang and the Tragically Hip.
I love reading, so my book list could become quite long. To prevent this...the last book I read was The Chemistry of Joy, I'm currently reading The Private Lives of Pippa Lee and plan on reading A Confederacy of Dunces. But my favourite series is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I've ever seen was about a million shooting stars when I was hiking in Fish River Canyon. I don't think I've ever been that far from city lights before.
The most amazing thing I've ever done was jump out of a perfectly functioning plane.
