ABOUT ME
Most people would describe me as a failure in life. No kids, no mortgage, no proper job, not even a car...and they're absolutely right!
However, I like to think of myself as an easy going, happy and generally not too boring person. Lots of my life and ideals i have now were shaped at some point during my late teenage years when i realised that all was not as it seemed in the world, and that there was an alternative...
I love to travel, to learn stuff, to get outside of my comfort zone, tests of physical endurance, to laugh, to go trail running, to hike, play guitar, take pictures... among other pursuits. But most importantly of all to do all this without contributing in a negative way to others and the environment. I believe in community, sharing and being respectful to animals, humans included and to not to support people / business that are doing bad things.
I've been travelling and learning full time since 2006 which has taken me all over, but repeatedly North to Scandinavia and Iceland. I am a trained arctic wilderness guide, cob builder, geographer and landscape ecologist to name a few of my jobs and passions.
I'm trying to live and learn in life by doing. That means a lot of doing things and having fun.
PHILOSOPHY
I can't think of any better way of putting it than what Bill Hick's once said about life.
"It's just a ride and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money, a choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one.
Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: "Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we kill those people."

Music, Movies, and Books
Films: Especially like interesting political/social documentaries, independent films, darker than average comedies, but generally anything other than brainless action films.
Books - Any pretentious rubbish my sisters pass on to me, T.C. Boyle, Naomi Klein, anything by Paul Auster, Murakami, James Elroy.
Music - I listen to all kinds of pretentious (see a trend here?) crap but I most deeply feel post-rock, alt-rock, ambient music. To namedrop a few of my favourite bands; At the Drive-in, 65daysofstatic, Godspeed you black emperor (or anything on Constellation Records for that matter), Refused, Mogwai, Radiohead, Boards Of Canada, Ben Frost, Labradford, Slint, Battles, etc etc...
Well any non-commercial stuff with guitar is a good start.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
