ABOUT ME

My name is Myles de Bastion. I was raised in England by my mother who is a painter, I moved to America when I graduated from University which was 8 years ago. I have traveled the American East Coast extensively have lived in NYC & Vermont however I am going to make my first brazen steps out to the West Coast soon.

I was actually born in Vermont and am fortunate to have dual-citizenship as a British-American. I always must travel with my two passports and enter/leave the country using the passport of my destination country. It comes in handy as I can speedily get through customs at airports!

You may have noticed that, I am deaf (or hearing impaired when I wear hearing aids) but this doesn't stop me from pursuing one of my greatest passions of being a musician. I have currently have a solo music project in development known as Misled Bayonets which revolves around heavily textured guitar sounds and explores different paradigms of song writing structure. I used to play and perform in NYC with the rock band VINYETTE as a lead guitarist, definitely check out their music for some straight ahead rocking out and strong song-writing chops.

I freelance as a web designer with my own company; Pixelshell and I also work for a Russian Shipping Company where I get to explore my user interface design skills.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted my first couchsurfers! Thanks to Duke and Trey, I hope you guys found the stay enjoyable and comfortable.

I am looking forward to becoming a couchsurfer myself and have always wanted to go travel out to the West Coast. Let me know if you'd like me to visit and play some music for you or help you with your website or computer issues!

Interests

Music, music, music, music! I am a musician first and foremost and web designer by trade.
Main instrument of choice is electric guitar so anything related to guitars, amps, vintage gear, recording and live performing will most certainly tickle my fancy.

Other interests have included, design, web technologies, animation, drawing, painting, reading, photography and film making, you could say I'm quite a creative chap. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is too many to list here, anything instrumental that empathizes melody or sonic texture, I will enjoy. I do not hear lyrics so that can sometimes alienate me from story-based songwriting alas.

Oooh, experimental films, weird films and such, I do like a bit of Tim Burton and David Lynch.

I love to geek on on a bit of science fiction too, I sometimes wonder if I born too early and I'd rather be in the future although maybe that is a scary prospect what with the way we are treating our planet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I opened my eyes and there was light, colors and movement. Two years later they inserted two devices into my ears and then there was sound, laughter and music.
