About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To reach the west cost of America whilst nursing a partially broken dream

ABOUT ME

Jacked in the job in London for some more time on the road, on this occasion, the USA.(Been offered a job by my prev employer if i return by Aug - also have a place to do a Post grad - don't really want to do either yet as my Visa lasts until Nov). Needed a break from work and to get a fresh perspective on things (My life in particular). So here i am. I Started in New York and brought a car with a couple of friends who i met in the Big Apple. I had one one goal in mind - getting to the other side and see as much as i can in between, generating enduring memories, experiences and fun. Been camping everywhere to keep costs down. I planned to take 3 months to cross and then have another 3 in California (Love the beach as i spent my childhood on the south cost of England) Two days ago (2/7/07) disaster struck - the breaks failed on our car whilst driving at 75 mph. Needless to say we CRASHED. We used the side of a Juggernaut to slow ourselves down (no choice). V. lucky to be alive and not have injured anyone - or worse. The car, unfortunately, was not so lucky and sacrificed its good self in place of us. She has been humbly accepted into car heaven (We hope). We loved that god forsaken piece of metal. Now we have no means of transport and no home. For anyone who has been to the States they will know how impossible it is to get anywhere without a car. We currently (today independence day) reside in Texas and find ourselves going our separate ways. I'm going to California and would love a couch, barn or sack to sleep on, in, or under for a day here and there until i get my feet on the ground. Ideally looking for some work (Any ideas?) to get some money together so that i can explore all the incredible National parks the west of the US has to offer (Things that i was supposed to be doing in our beautiful car). Maybe someone can help? Or just has a tip on a must see place I should check out(except the obvious). Even a drink with a laid back, friendly, intelligent human being would be wonderful. I currently know nobody there and would love to leave having made at least one new friend. Not too much to ask ??

PHILOSOPHY

Try it out. It probably won't kill you, and hell, if it does, make sure it was damn cool.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Its my first time on this site due to my hour of need. I have heard about this before and have been meaning to check it. Obviously i have not yet accommodated anyone but would happily return the favor to those obliging souls and of course consider requests from anyone once I return to the Mother Land (London - England). Would always happily meet for a drink or offer advice if I'm around.
