About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Propel my efforts to learn from everything.

ABOUT ME

26 years ago, my parents, Dennis and Susan, named me Eric Scott Eisher. I have grown to love my name a whole lot, but am open to nicknames as well.

I have studied music and computer technology since a very young age (5 and 10, respectively). Piano changed my life and I would find myself sitting at the keys for up to 8 hours a day while trying to learn the songs of my favorite childhood music, Broadway's Les Miserables. I got hold of my first computer around the age of 8 and immediately destroyed it. I learned the insides and out of the hardware and soon become fanatically immersed with the software side of computing. At 9 I was a command-line junkie and worked only through DOS. However, something changed drastically when I got in to junior high and I found out about graphic design. My parents put me in a UCSD summer course for beginners C++ and design. I fell out of love with programming and my love for design took off...it will never end.

I like to consider myself an open forum to all situations. Sometimes I feel that I am in constant observation mode. I consistently find the good in every situation and think hard about the bad. My heart is open to yours and in my world there is always another chance to redeem a wrong.

I voted for President Bush. No, I am kidding...I didn't really like the guy very much. That being said, I have a sense of humor that really shines. I am good for a laugh and know how to take a joke as well.

Please, let me shake your hand and give you a hug, I would love to learn all you would like to share <3

PHILOSOPHY

My life is tailored around the word "design." The world is full of designers. In fact, each and every one of us is a designer. Lifestyles, habits, lies and hairstyles are shaped and crafted to transform our complexities into simplicities. We share our ideas to improve, persuade and inspire the lives of people around us. My approach to the world joins forces with others and the result is an amalgamation of cataclysmic catastrophe and harmonious grace -- regardless, always a beautiful design.

I am a chilled out guy with fierce ambition and this juxtaposition is what gives me the motivation to be a great designer -- I want our lives to be as simple as possible. Blessed be the evolutionary development of the thumb, the inventor of the wheel and god bless the creative mind behind the television remote control.

My path as a designer is eternal and my steps have been short with scattered leaps and bounds. I am moving forward, backward, left, right and, at times, interdimensionally. Whether I am brainstorming an ad campaign, designing a website or finding a better place to store my car keys my the end goal is always to explore creative ways to blend discovery and functional ease... a splash of color, fun and enthusiasm doesn't hurt either.

I love you already. Lets design together!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I joined the site for starts, but to expand... When I heard about this project and all it has done for my traveling friends, i can't help but be an advocate for this beautiful community! it is hard to imagine a better system for connecting open-hearts around the world on such a personal level.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience of couch surfing through this site is limited, but I have traveled across America and Canada sleeping in many friendly houses along the way. Music, Movies, and Books

i will focus on music here:
I am in love with all sounds, as a musician myself, I am most inspired by the orchestra that surrounds me every moment my headphones are off. Often times I find that turning off the record player revels the best music of all. I love the rhythm of footsteps and the sounds of passing cars. The plops of rain drops and birds in the hills of Oakland.

When I put on a record, it often reflects the kind of task I am enjoying. Lately I have been listening to a lot of producers like Flying Lotus, Casino vs Japan and James Holden, but I really do love most genres of music. Country isn't to pleasing to me, though, Dolly Parton, you are the bomb... and lets give it up for the release of Smithsonian Folk complitaions...my god, now that is real country.

Godspeed you black emperor changed my life. It led me down the road of listening to artists such as, Do Make Say Think, a silver mount zion, John Cage, Terry Riley, Arvo Part, Phili Glass, Max Richter, Sigur Ros, Meredith Monk and later on....when I had a hankering for listening to lyrics, it led me to Wilco, Lambchop, Laurie Anderson, The Who, Animal Collective, Thanksgiving.

Lets get funky with some Can, Family Fodder or Funkadelic or James Brown. We can keep it classy with some Bach or Tchaikovsky. We can philosophize over the tragic words of Nick Drake or rock out to some west african blues like tinariwan or ali farka toure.

I am game, please deliver!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was once trapped in a stolen car that was found in the desert by helicopter.

I have traveled almost every state in America and every province in Canada.

I have seen purple sunsets (something i would love to do with any of you)
