About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To complement my formal education with some real life lessons, explore, have adventures and build relationships and community
ABOUT ME
A small town west coast girl at heart I left my mountains and comfort behind me four years ago to experience the beauty that is Montreal.
After waking up from the cloud of years of university education last December I realized that Montreal had so much more to offer me than I had let it while in school there.
I used my fancy degree to get a job at a "super classy" karaoke bar and moved into a cooperative living space with 12 other amazing individuals.
After learning about dumpster diving, improving my quebecois slang, rediscovering montreal and falling head over heals for communal living...oh ya and realizing i am just not cut out to be a barmaid...I headed back for some family time in the west and took off southwards to explore the west coast of the states.
For many reasons the states has yet to relinquish its hold on me and I find myself yet again taking off on a journey from the northwest, through the south and finally out to the southeast.
PHILOSOPHY
Its in the development stages but really its all about what connects us. Ties and community are important and its important for me to be aware of and understand how my actions affect others whether they be in the room next to me or on the other side of the world. This goes for the impact i have on non-sentient beings as well.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I was a co-host numerous times at the coop i lived in in montreal and now am off traveling and spending time on other peoples couches!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am new to the official profile aspect of couchsurfing but have had amazing experiences travelling on the wings of other surfers.
My first ever experience was on a weekend trip from Montreal to Quebec City where we stumbled upon a couch surfer reunion weekend of all things...what an introduction to the community!
I've also been a co-host numerous times in Montreal as the housing coop I lived in while there was a regular stop for surfers. It allowed me to meet tons of different people and get a feel for the spirit and awesomeness that is couchsurfing!
Interests
Outdoorsy things like hiking and camping. Alpine meadows with babbling brooks on glorious mountains hold a dear place in my heart.
Food is very important to me. Because it nourishes me and it can be very tasty and it it links us all with each other and the environment.
I enjoy cooking and sharing food with all different sorts of people. Learning new cuisines is always a plus! And I have a weakness for sweets. I like to bake and like people that like to bake with me.
Community is also very important to me. I like to build it and be a part of it and learn how other people interact with and build their communities.
Dancing! in all shapes and forms. I feel the most like me when I am dancing...most particularly when it is to drums, but anything will do.
