About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to become a fulltime student again.

ABOUT ME

In order to have a fruitful relationship with my subconscious Ive named it Alice and talk to it frequently.

I wish I could speak more languages but I hate language classes.

I love food. One of my priced possessions is a copy of the Modernist Cuisine.

People say Im addicted to coffee, I'm not, cause otherwise I'd drink shitty coffee just to get some and I don't.

I think of myself as a writer. I actually have thought of myself as a writer ever since I was in high school. I wrote a book, a pretty shitty one. I keep writing random stuff trying to get better at it and hopefully my next book will be decent. You can read some stuff at my blog www.noescierto.com but it's all in spanish.

I tend to spend a considerable amount of time trying to master the science of teleportation. It's not working yet...

I like photography, I actually love it. I think of myself as somewhat of a good photographer but I'm still an amateur. You can see some of my photos at noescierto.4ormat.com

I have a wine collection. I have recently fallen in love with a region called Graves wich is in the southern part of Bordeaux. Sad part is, you can only find about 3 or 5 wines in Mexico from that region, so I try to get wines whenever I'm abroad. I also have a single malt collection but it's not as big.

I don't smoke cigarrettes. You can see me smoking a tobacco pipe or a cigar in México but its more about the experience of smoking it and accompanying it with some port, madeira, whisky or cognac. In other words, I wont smoke if you host me, unless you smoke with me.

I have a strong belief that I can become whomever I want and do whatever I want. The problem is I find something new I want to do or be every 6 months, so by now I want to be a lot of things.

I daydream a lot.

I have a cat, his name is Mao. I picked him up from the street after almost running over him. He is an Egyptian Mau or otherwise the most common cat in the world also the first domesticated breed of cats. He likes me but hates it whenever I have alcohol nearby specially whisky. I have no problem with any kind of pets at all.

I'm kind of geeky and a bit of a nerd. I did a Bachelor on Mechatronics Engineering in Mexico(which is kind of like Robotics without the artificial intelligence part) and did a minor on Automotive Engineering in China. Then I did a diploma on International Business in France and now I'm doing a diploma on creative writing focused on publicity. I work in IT and I'm applying for a Master's Degree in Finance and Economics.

I always find a bunch of different things to do. I'm a volunteer at the local Contemporary Art Museum(Marco), I'm an activist in Amnesty International, I'm the state representative in Nuevo León for the Mexican Mensa chapter, I'm part of a very active Wine Tasting group, I lead a very curious film club, I take cooking classes once a week and still find time to enjoy life reading a book while drinking tea or wine.

PHILOSOPHY

I plan on continue learning random things all my life so Im keen on new experiences, new places to go where I dont speak the language. Eating the weirdest things I can find, going to the weirdest places at least once. Asking lots of questions and finding out more about whatever I don't know.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like meeting new people especially for language exchange, so Im happy to offer my couch whenever I can or at least meet up with people so that they can enjoy Monterrey more. I Believe I'm one of those guys that really get to know a city and Monterrey is my home town. A city is all about the experience, I'm sure I can find one which you will definitely enjoy here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a couple of people here in Monterrey, also did some hosting while I was living in Beijing. I've surfed in Europe and Asia. In general it has been pretty cool.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked one of the 5 holy mountains of China. Its not a big hike probably about 2 hours. This one is in Datong and its a Taoist mountain. The cool thing is that the whole mountain is a Taoist temple with different little temples on it. Taoism is divided into several realms, something like heaven, earth and hell except there are about 7 or 9, i dont really remember. Half way up the mountain is where the little temples start appearing begining from the lowest realms so something like hell is first and while you are climibing you run in to the other temples until you reach the top of the mountain where the highest temple is, I guess you can call it the temple of heaven or the like. It was pretty cool and the monks there where very friendly. They arent very used to western tourists so they where kind of curious and even gave us candy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a big Wine guy, actually alcohol in general but I guess wine is what I know best. I organize wine tastings about once every two weeks but there's at least 2 weekly wine tastings going on here in Monterrey. So if your around and would like to get into wine just send me a message and Ill do my best to teach you the basics about it and invite you to a wine tasting.
