About Me

I had read a quote somewhere, of people needing to find 3 hobbies encompassing various aspects of life. While it is still a WIP, i try to align my interests in such a way.

Have a hobby that makes you money - Althought I've spent 5 years studying on an engineering subject, if you dont have the passion, there is no point in pursuinng it further. I work as a consultant now for a consulting firm. Why? Because I love dynamism in my life. It keeps me on my toes, it doesn't let my mind rust away. I must constantly learn, adapt and deliver. Plus, I get to meet wonderful people and varied viewpoints. Why wouldn't this be perfect as a passion that earns me money? :)

Have a hobby that keeps you fit - Admitedly, this is one that I have not yet figured out yet. What I have though, is figuredout I love to travel, to trek and see the world that's been laid out to us. In order to do so, I must be in shape and this is what drives me towards being fit. There is so much to see and so many places to go, it would be disheartening if the limiting factor is my fitness. So there, a hobby to be fit.

Have a hobby to be creative - While most people figure out their creative interests at a very young age, I found mine in college. And it fits very, very well with my previous hobby. I love to capture the world around me, be it the scenic landscapes or the multitude of human emotions and document then in writing, with my own thoughts (be it diary-style or fiction). Photography and writing, together, complements everything I love to do and pushes me to do more. What's more fulfilling that experiencing the joys of life and then sharing your experiences with like-minded people? :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced by a friend who had waxed lyrical about the idea.
Traveling and meeting new people (and in turn, new perspectives and life experiences), I believe is essential for every person to shape their worldview, to be more inclusive and to just have some fun.

This is why I joined CS. Why be alone and secluded when you can share your joys and knowledge with people? :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, music.. while I do have generally ecelctic tastes in music, my go to would be rock instrumentals and really, instrumentals in general. I am a fan of hard rock and western classical, not much of Pop and EDM (The one withe the screeches. The ones with a good rhythm, I can jam with)

As far as movies are concerned I really do not have any favourite. If it makes me think, I love it. If it makes me laugh and feel lighter, I love it. I guess it depends on the mood?

And books. Fiction and esp. high fantasy is by far my favorite genre. I think I would have read LoTR and Narnia over 5 times each. Anything that lets myimagination soar wildly.
Next up would be Science fic, esp those of Asimov and Jules Verne. Special mention to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy :D I also enjoy a good mystery/thriller. Some works of King and Agatha (The Murder of Roger Ackroyd blew my 15 year old mind) . Currently reading Rushdie and Kafka.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

White water rafting in the Satluj and diving below currents moving at over 11kmph. Pounding, extremely cold water engulfing you entirely. That adrenaline flow was incomparable :D

Teach, Learn, Share

Being just around 23 years of age, I really wouldn't know what to teach as such, as I'm just learning myself. I am quite decent at photography and english and could perhaps share whatevevr small knowledge I do have on those, but I'm still an amateur in so many levels.

Personally, still on a pursuit to learn more about people and places. And i plan to do that with the help of a camera by my side to document my experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As of right now, I stay at a PG so I would not be able to offer accomdation, but I would love to meet and take people around the place gladly. Being a decent foodie, can recommend places to dine out cheap as well :)

Countries I’ve Visited
