About Me
Hello,
I'm Sriram(You can call me Ram). I was born and brought up in Delhi, but I trace my roots down south to the state southern state of Tamil Nadu. I recently graduated as an Engineer from IIT Madras and I currently work with a consulting firm in Delhi.
I am an open-minded and friendly guy who loves to travel and experience different cultures. I enjoy good food, music, football, swimming travelling and trekking. I am new to the concept of backpacking travel and it excites me to the core.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travelling is my passion and I believe that as a human being born on this beautiful planet, I must explore the world, meet new people, experience new cultures, help others learn about my culture and create memories to cherish for a lifetime. And I believe that Couchsurfing is the best way to get a first-hand experience of the local culture, get a peek into the everyday lifestyle and customs of the locals and at the same time manage travel costs.
Interests
I love to play a variety of sports and football is my favourite. I am a diehard fan of Liverpool FC, have been supporting them since 2007. Also, I was a competitive swimmer and water-polo player during my college days and I still enjoy it.
I've completed a few treks in the lower Himalayan ranges, the latest one being to Roop Kund, a high altitude glacial lake at 16,000 ft.
Scuba diving is the latest thing that I've caught onto. During my recent trip ( Dec 17) to Thailand, I went diving at the Phi Phi Islands ( Koh Bida Nok to be specific) and the experience was beyond my imagination (pics in the album).

Music, Movies, and Books
Favourite TV shows - Breaking Bad, Fargo, True Detective, Game of Thrones, Narcos, Master of None, Silicon Valley,
Favourite movies - Inglorious Basterds, Dark Knight Trilogy, Fight Club, Invictus, Rush, The Prestige,
I just listen to random songs and don't have a preference for any particular genre of music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I trekked the Kedarkantha, a peak in the lower Himalayas ( 13000 ft) in December 2016. It was a 5-day trek during the peak winter season, with freezing temperatures as low as -10 C. On the summit day, we started out at 3 in the morning under a sky lit by stars and plodded our way to the top to witness the sun rising above the great snow-clad Himalayan peaks and a view so beautiful that words can't describe. It was one of the most thrilling, exhilarating and eye-opening experiences of my life!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to swim and play water polo. Also, I can share a thing or two about trekking and camping, Indian culture, basic science, technology, and a variety of other things.
Learn - I want to experience the various cultures of the world, learn different languages, soak into the beautiful landscapes that mother Earth has to offer.

I am currently living in Delhi with my family, so I won't be able to host anyone but I am willing to meet up and show you around some local places and have a good time.
