About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn and to understand so I can begin to put together the puzzle pieces of this beautiful and crazy world.

ABOUT ME

If only I knew....There is so much yet to be discovered.

PHILOSOPHY

Right now, it's all about taking deep breaths.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have so far only had one real couchsurfing experience, but it was so wonderful that I now feel a strong connection to this community. I surfed at the home of a wonderful man in Cairo, who opened his home to me and a friend, as well as several others who we happened to meet there. By introducing us to the tight CS community in Cairo, we immediately felt like we had friends in the city. I have never felt so welcomed and at home in a place that felt so foreign to me at the same time. Cafes, boat rides, pyramids, all from an insider's perspective... it was so perfect and I would love to pay that kindness forward.

Interests

My most intensive interest at the moment is exploring the world and my mind and seeing what fits. I am also very interested in learning about how something as amazing and precious and food comes out of the earth and how to be involved in that process. I am interested in the Middle East and why there are so many struggles going on there every day. I am interested in building things, and conservation of resources of all kinds.

I love lakes, rivers, oceans, mountains, and trees. Art makes me feel whole. I like to move my body in interesting and challenging ways - on rocks, in water, in yoga poses, running, jumping, climbing. I love to learn about food, cook food, cook food with other people, cook food for other people, and eat food. Playing the cello, just to feel its vibrations.

Music, Movies, and Books

Bluegrass, fiddle music, anything with a banjo, and string instruments in general.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The milky way night after night over my lake in Maine. Sun and moonrises over the mountains of Jordan and the Dead Sea.
Sang with Pete Seeger at his house in New York for a video to raise awareness about peace initiatives in the Middle East.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach about smelling the seasons and the flowers, a few things here and there about cooking and baking, a little about water systems and how they work, and perhaps some oil painting if you've got time.

I've had a banjo for a few years, and have only begun to learn to play it. I would really appreciate any advice or help in that endeavor!
