About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Understanding and participating in my food source

ABOUT ME

Originally from Ohio, I spent half my life living in Colorado. It was while in school in Fort Collins studying Psychology that I decided to leave my study of the mind and pursue a study of the stomach, specifically food and the science of it. I packed my bag and headed to Portland, OR where I spent just shy of two years attending Western Culinary Institute ( they've recently changed their name.) From there I moved to an island off the coast of Washington Called Orcas Island, nicknamed the rock. I spent two years cooking and Gardening up there. It was there that I really started to appreciate and understand the seasonality and locality of food. I decided that I would once again change directions. This time I decided to track down more specifically where my food comes from. So, I headed to SW Wisconsin. I've been here for two years and have helped out on several different vegetable farms and even temporarily stumbled into a chef position at an Italian eatery. Now I work within distribution of local foods as well as on a organic vegetable farm.

When not working I think about coming up with farm dinners and catering events showcasing local cuisine. SW Wisconsin is literally the bread basket for food. SO many great cheesemakers, and food producers here. The beer is quite an accomplishment as well.

When I'm not thinking about food, I play co-ed soccer in Madison, ride my bicycle through the rolling hills of the driftless region, or try to catch a bluegrass show. Often times I sit and read with my cat purring loudly as he falls asleep in a warm sun spot on the couch.

PHILOSOPHY
