About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find my purpose, whatever that is.

ABOUT ME
I feel the need to put this here because of the overwhelming requests: I will not rent you my car. You must book early, use Turo, or plan to take ride share. Additionally, I only wish to host up to two people at a time. Please have set dates when making a request and tell me something (anything) about why you chose to request to stay with me.

I will also put a few things out there. #1: I am nearly entirely sober, so please don’t bring alcohol into my home. I will have a beer on a very rare occasion. #2: I am genderqueer, queer, and polyamorous. If any of those things make you uncomfortable, I’m probably not the host/surfer for you. #3: I work as a lawyer for the state of AK, and I will rarely be available during the weekday- my hours are typically 8:30 AM-5:30 PM with no lunch. I am BUSYYY during the summer, so it’s very rare that I can host over a weekend from May-September! #4 No strictly overnight requests, which means arriving in the late evening and departing in the morning.

I am a student of life and law. I moved to Anchorage, AK, USA in September 2019 to pursue a career in law. I did immigration for 4 years and switched to child welfare cases in January 2023. In a past life, I studied evolution and ecology. You can find my research published in the journal Evolution and Development (Title of the article: The postembryonic transformation of the shell in emydine box turtles).

I am an ambivert and enjoy meeting people of all backgrounds. I am an eclectic mix of intellectual, athletic, and artistic. I'm into rock climbing, pole fitness, ecstatic dance, scuba diving, running, theatre, and playing my saxophone, among other things. I also love a good card/board game (very competitive).

I feel like I’m finally starting to come into the realm of “world travel.” I started with Australia in 2012. Overall, I've been to 33 countries--my goal was to visit 30 by the time I turned 30, and I achieved it in September 2021 by visiting South Africa/eSwatini! 🥳 Next: 50 states before 50.

I should mention I changed my name in July of 2017, so if you're seeing my dead name in my references, that's why. I don’t use that name except for legal purposes, and I’d prefer not to talk about why I changed it.

PHILOSOPHY

I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed numerous times, met up with locals, attended a couple meetings, and I've hosted both domestic and international individuals.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My Couchsurfing experiences have been just fantastic thus far.

Interests

Biology/animals, acting, running, law/morality, speaking Spanish, watching movies, dancing, kickboxing, music, singing, going to shows/concerts, traveling, conversing with people, cooking, swimming, ice skating, playing Cribbage, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Top 5: V for Vendetta, Momento, Fight Club, Men Who Hate Women (Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), The Princess Bride. In general, I like psychological thrillers and documentaries.

Music: Anything of the alternative type: indie, rock, ska, some 90s music, along with the classics: The Eagles, Paul Simon, Peter, Paul, and Mary, The Styx, etc.

Books: Endless Forms Most Beautiful, anything C.S. Lewis, Stephen King, or Ayn Rand, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ran 20 miles about a decade ago after not being able to run a mile on a treadmill a year prior. I climbed Mt. Rainier in July 2019.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I would love to inform someone of the broad and fantastic world of biology. Learn: I would love to learn of the world. I would like to learn what it's like to live in diversity--and poverty for that matter. Share: I would love to share how I feel certain events have shaped my life, and I would also enjoy sharing a myriad of experiences with new people.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Bahamas, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, Egypt, England, France, Georgia, Honduras, Iceland, Japan, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Maldives, Mexico, Namibia, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turks and Caicos Islands, United States, Viet Nam, Zimbabwe
