ABOUT ME

I'm a life enthusiast, always working on enjoying life MORE, as well as learning to enjoy the here and now. It's not always easy! I try to always question the stereotypical expectations for how people should live their lives, and find my own way instead. It follows that I have no patience for people who are judgmental or want to limit my existence somehow. Thankfully it's not difficult these days to find cool people who just want to live in whatever way makes them happy, and want others to do so too :)

I'm settled here in the North of Finland, where I originally came from. It's a fabulous place, but you have to see it for yourself - and experience it slowly - to understand! A lot of tourists do come but I still think it's a bit of a hidden gem :)

PHILOSOPHY

I never say never, I try to enjoy the littlest things, and I think everything in life is worthy of celebration. There is nothing that simply shouldn't be done, as long as it hurts no one.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host and surf whenever possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted and surfed a few times. I love couchsurfing because it gives you opportunities to meet different types of people. When surfing, you get to see the place from the viewpoint of a local. When hosting, you get to learn how others see things that are so familiar to you that you no longer even notice them! Fabulous :)

兴趣

I sing, play fiddle and dance. Obsessed with Finnish and Scandinavian folk music and increasingly living the pelimanni lifestyle :) I also sing in a choir and some other projects here and there. I've done Irish dancing, but now it's mostly Finnish folk dancing.

I defended my PhD in October 2017 and am now working on finding my way in academia - or maybe elsewhere. We'll see.

Trad trad trad trad trad :) And a cappella music. And other stuff, too - just don't seem to get that much time to actually listen to music, since I'm so busy making it :)

I read a LOT. Don't catch so many films but enjoy them when I do!

Life is amazing all the time, in so many small ways, that it's hard to pick just one thing. In recent years I guess my best experience has been watching hundreds of people dancing and clapping, with smiles on their faces, and knowing I played a big part in making that happen :)

I can tell you a lot about music, singing and playing the fiddle. I'm good at various crafts and also know a lot about Finnish national costumes and how to make them! And I'll teach you to dance, Irish or Finnish :)
