About Me

Just moved to Porto, to do research on artificial intelligence for music. People say I'm a pretty chill and friendly dude.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of getting to know a place with the locals, avoiding tourist traps. I think getting to know the culture through its people is the best way. I know the difficulties of being a traveler, and Couchsurfing is an amazing platform for this and it is completely free, available to everyone from all over the world. I also love helping people when I have a place to host.

Interests

I like music a lot, though I'm not the best player. I play a little bit of ukulele, blues harmonica and sing badly, and I'm always open to jamming. I particularly listen to classic rock, jazz, blues, reggae and metal.

Chill activities, hanging out at parks, beaches, mountains, anywhere natural. Outdoor activities such as slacklining and frisbee, but also team sports such as basketball. Sports in general, running, cycling, working out. Also into yoga, meditation and altered states of mind.

In the city, discovering local places, cafes, bars where I can socialize with people. Bar games like billiards (8-ball), foosball (table soccer) and darts. Also board games, backgammon, go and chess. I enjoy trying out gourmet coffees.

I do like volunteer work when I have time. I volunteered in an organic farm for a year so I'm into that stuff also. I love spending time with different kinds of animals, except Komodo dragons (not that I've seen one). I also volunteered in a youth center where I played billiards, foosball and darts all day everyday for a year. Over there I also worked as a sound engineer for the kids who wanted to produce songs. Oh, and I used to be a clown (and occasionally spiderman).

Music, Movies, and Books

As someone who started reading quite late, I'm trying to make my way through the classics. Some of my favourites; Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Sartre, Camus, Orwell, Shakespeare, Kerouac, Hemingway. Movies of Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, Sergio Leone, Akira Kurosawa, Francis Ford Coppola, Charles Chaplin, Sidney Lumet, Terry Gilliam, Quentin Tarantino, Alejandro Jodorowsky. Comedy of Doug Stanhope, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker, Mitchell-Webb, Monty Python. As for music, mostly 50s to 80s, classic rock, jazz, reggae, dub, blues, blues rock, thrash metal, psychedelic, sometimes classical. Lately listening to lots of Coltrane.
