About Me

I have spent the entirety of my adult life dedicated to finding the next great adventure.

A healthy obsession? Maybe not.

But at least I’ve had a good time.

My childhood was similar. Though underage and bound by my parents’ ideas of what adventure could look like, I sought out my own version of it in any way I could. I think I understood from a very young age that adventure could be found – no, it could be *created* - in nearly any circumstance. All it took was a little bit of curiosity. And of that - my cup ranneth over.

When I was a kid, my parents owned an old pull-behind camper. I spent many holidays riding my bike around the paved loops of RV campgrounds. And in these campgrounds, it was not uncommon for me to disappear without a word. After putting my parents through an involuntary game of detective, I would eventually be found at the dinner table of a camper inhabited by complete and total strangers. “I made new friends,” I would say to my parents. They would thank the strangers for not murdering me, and then scold me back to our own campsite.

That same little girl who made friends with strangers anywhere she went turned into a grown woman who loves to do the same, but now she has this amazing tool called the ~internet~.

Random facts about me:

I was born and raised on a farm in Kentucky.

I am a photographer. I shoot digital and film for personal projects.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Strategic Communication from the University of Kentucky with a concentration in Public Relations, but that piece of paper was promptly put away as I discovered my love for travel the summer before I graduated. After graduation, I got a waitressing job so I could make good money and then take off work whenever I wanted to travel. I'm still paying on my student loans, but I don't regret it for a minute. The 9-5 life just isn't for me.

I have lived in Kentucky, Seattle, and have just recently moved to Atlanta.

Big biiiiiig foodie. I love cooking but don't know if I'd consider myself very good at it. Regardless, I love sitting down and sharing a meal with friends and strangers. It's a love that comes deep from the soul.

I'm a big tea lover as well. In the words of Uncle Iroh (Avatar), "Sharing tea with a fascinating stranger is one of life's true delights."

I love hot, tropical weather. My happy place is on the beach in a bikini top and comfy, flowy beach pants. I know this is very specific, but it's what my boyfriend and I like to call "Peak Stacey." It's when I'm the happiest.

I am obsessed with One Piece (anime). I geek out when I get to talk to other people who also love it.

I love dogs. I love them so much that my head wants to explode just thinking about it. I can't have one because I'm always on the move but if you have one I get to play with, I'll love you even more for it.

I once turned my Prius into a tiny little "camper van" and lived in it for 7 months because I was spending too much money on rent and I didn't have enough left over to adventure. I learned very quickly that a Prius is far from an offroad vehicle, and my check engine light remains on to this day. It was an awesome experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favorite thing about travel is the people I meet along the way. Couchsurfing reminds me of how incredible, kind and compassionate human beings can be. It stands for everything I love about life and authentic human connection. It makes me giddy. I love this shit.

"If you trust everyone you meet, you will occasionally get robbed; but if you distrust everyone, you spend your whole life surrounded by thieves." -Elijah Wald

********** MEN: I am happily taken. I have, unfortunately, had some annoying experiences with men on here that did not reflect the true spirit of cs. If you're looking to flirt or creepily hit on girls, please don't bother messaging me. I hate that I have to say that. :( **********

Interests

Travel. Obviously. All different kinds. I love adventure travel, solo travel, backpacking, luxury. All of it. I can just as happily sleep on a grimy couch or in the back of my car as I can happily sleep in a luxury hotel. I love amassing all different kinds of experiences with all different kinds of humans.

Music. I love seeing live shows and I love going to multi-genre music festivals.

Food. Specifically Southeast Asian food.

Tea. I love a good chai or jasmine green.

Photography is one of my biggest loves.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Frank Ocean, Toro y Moi, Blood Orange, Kaytranada, Brockhampton, Choker, Tyler the Creator, Lord Huron, Flume, Odesza, James Blake, Altopalo, Goldlink, little bit of classic country (you can take the girl out of Kentucky…) and tons more. I listen to many different genres and this list will probably look different by next week.

My favorite book right now is Untamed by Glennon Doyle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Said what the hell and took my first trip abroad to Greece and Albania solo. I had never even been on an airplane before. Life hasn’t looked the same since.
